When we visited Ferrara, the front facade of the Basilica was undergoing maintenance, but what first struck as a particular feature of the church building was, that along the side is a gallery with a number of small shops. Inside the Basilica is impressive. This...More

Completely covered in scaffolding and canvas, the outer facade is totally obscured. Most of the ceilings inside are also hidden from view. It appears it will be this way for a LONG time. But the rest of the interior is quite amazing and worth the...More

The cathedral is very interesting, although reconstruction of the central façade is currently under way.

Lots paintings and architecture to take time to see, but a little short on the lighting so viewing some parts was difficult.

This Basilica is quite lovely. It is quite ornate with stunning art adorning its walls and a great feeling a peace inside. The craftsmanship within this and in fact all of these old Italian churches is mind-blowing, so special.

The Cathedrale is quite large and has an imposing location next to the main square. Unfortunately, the Cathedrale was under construction - inside and out - during our visit. With the front completely wrapped - and the inside covered in netting - the Cathedrale was...More

It is huge and at the same time, it is charming and beautiful, sadly like many other historical buildings in Italy it is undergoing restoration which spoils your visit, but needless to say, you never find this out until you arrive there, but nevertheless, still...More

Although the frontage is covered in scaffolding and netting the interior is of great interest. The inside is huge with a number of small to medium side chapels. There is the opportunity for 1 Euro to listen to a presentation about the history of the...More

The Cathedral is the monument I liked most in Ferrara. Besides of being huge, it´s incredibly beautiful. Shame that, due to restoration works, important parts of its main facade were covered in scaffolding, but anyway there´s much left to enjoy. It looks as if it...More
