Was hoping to visit the castle and explore rooms but you are only allowed in the small outside area. €4 pp to enter or €12 pp if you buy a combine ticket that gets you into 5 sites - we did this but on reflection...More

If you are heading in the western area of Sicily, a stop at Castello di Venere (also known as Erice Castle) is a must! The drive up the mountain, the scenery, and the surrounding view of the castle and Torretta Pepoli are all so beautiful!...More

The Castello di Venere is a beautiful place to see the whole grand area from above. The castle itself is mostly ruins of course but the location allows you gorgeous views all the way to the sea. Erice is located about 800 metres above Trapani....More

We loved Erice and the amazing sights of the medieval mountain top village. The castle is the most amazing place on the mountain with breathtakingly beautiful views of Trapani, the sea and surrounding area.

This little village is a hidden gem. We went early in the morning and there was no crowd. We walked around the beautiful stone covered streets. The main attraction is Castello di Venere. It is a beautiful castle hanging off a cliff. It looks just...More

We went up earlier on during our stay in Trapani and the Castello and Erice were completely engulfed by the fog. 3 days later - our last day - we visited again and there was nothing but clear blue skies. How lucky were we! Fabulous...More

Our party of 12 took the trip to see the castles in Erice. Everyone enjoyed looking around and hearing about the historical significance of the area. Also enjoyed the town itself with its many shops and restaurants. Great place to spend a day in Sicily!

Make a bee-line for the far end of Erice once through the main gate and have a look at the castle and its adjacent grounds. It is not free to enter and I didn't feel like paying, but you can get a sense of it...More

Getting there is half the fun!! For the weak of heart take the wider switch-back road on the east side of mountain. You share that with the tour busses. But if you are really in the mood for the drive of your life, use the...More

I would say about 15 minutes to walk up and down the hill plus he time of the visit (we spent about 15 minutes walking around the ruins). So about 30 minutes in total.
