Getting there is half the fun!! For the weak of heart take the wider switch-back road on the east side of mountain. You share that with the tour busses. But if you are really in the mood for the drive of your life, use the...More

we went there several times at different times of the day. like everyone says, it gives you the best vista in Erice. it was built over an original venus temple and apparently the stones have been used to built the castle itself. we didn't get...More

The castle was at one time owned by one of the most powerful families in Sicily until they stupidly challenged the king and lost, so lost everything. It's a fun town to explore and there are some great views from the castle, assuming it is...More

When visiting Erice this a must. Beautiful views around, a lovely park, and there is even a bar just there for refreshments. We sid not visit inside though.

We took our car and drove right up into the town square (by accident), there is parking at the entrance to the castle though. It’s only about €4 to enter the castle. Very historical and great viewpoints for taking pictures. You’re up in the clouds...More

Well worth the visit to Erice a small village on the mountain in Trapani Scicily. Very historical. Great views from the Castle when the clouds aren't hovering.

How many castles and churches will Erice possess...No idea. But Castello di Venere and the surroundings, the view, the upcoming fog when you are sitting in the sun...takes your breath away..Very special place..on walking distance from the central parking spot... A must do when you...More

The views are great, but that’s pretty much it. The castle rooms are being renovated, so are closed. Basically you walk into a walled courtyard and walk around. The Wall of Daedalus is about the only interesting thing in the place, other than the views,...More

Amazing trip, definitely worth a visit. Castle above the clouds. Drive up there, beautiful view, bit of a pain paying for parking but worth it for the views. Castle is in amazingly good condition and the views are astounding. An absolute must.

We were excited to see the castle and made the drive to Erice. After circling the town a bit to find parking, no local shops or stands would make change for the parking meter (would not take a card). We bought coffee and got some...More

I would say about 15 minutes to walk up and down the hill plus he time of the visit (we spent about 15 minutes walking around the ruins). So about 30 minutes in total.
