Wonderful way to view the fortress and museum, some quite narrow and high walks along the ramparts of the fortress but well worth it. The museum is interesting and the frescos on the ceilings amazing. Really worth the €9 entry and so quiet when we went. The views of the lake are fabulous.

A combination ticket allows you access to both Palazzo della Corgna and La Rocca including an intriguing walk through the covered passage that joins the two. The medieval fortress of Castiglione del Lago (known as Rocca del Leone) stands on the site of an Etruscan acropolis. The walls of the five-sided site are all remaining as are two triangular, two circular and one square tower at each of the points at which the wall sections join. The entrance ticket allows a walking tour of the crenellated walls and towers (one direction only due to the narrow nature of the walk upon the walls) and the views over Lake Trasimeno are beautiful. We spent an hour on the tour due to the stunning views and wonderful pictures that we were able to take.

The highlight of the fortress is the amazing views of the lake. Wherever you look it is absolutely fabulous. There are quite a few narrow stairs but the trek up, even in the sun, is worth it. Admissions is combined with the neighboring palazzo.

In our opinion this is the highlight of the visit to Castiglione del Lago. We live nearby and been to the town many times. It’s very charming. But we finally found time to visit Palazzo della Corgna and La Rocca is included in the price of the ticket. After enjoying the museum we took a cool narrow passage (about 5 min walk) to the fortress and towers and were stunned by the beauty of the view! It was sunset time and the colors of the sky and fog were so lovely. You can stroll around and take beautiful photos. The lake looks very mystical from the towers. Really loved it! Very romantic!

A fabulous place to visit in a beautiful town. The closed corridor access to the castle is amazing to walk through and then you go up spiral stairs and can walk right around the ramparts with brilliant views all across the lake - all good fun and a bit of an adventure for any able bodied person of any age.

Absolutely incredible fort It’s 8 Euros per person to get in but it includes entrance to another beautiful exhibit. The entrance is about 100 yards before the fort where the two story orange building is located Amazing views of the lake as well

This castle gives you great views over the lake and is handy for your first day as it gives you an idea where everything is and whether you're going for the 30 mile bike ride round the lake or take it easy on the ferry. The cafe is great for iced coffees especially when it's 30 degrees.
The long roofed wall walk is fun too.

I didn’t expect such a nice centrepiece to this town. As you walk up through what would have been the inner town, fantastic shops and an historical church with a surprising interior abound. The inners of the citadel have some ruins but also an outdoor cinema. Fantastic. Great views and a great place.

The main objective to visit is Rocca del Leone - a well-preserved medieval fortress. You will see with your eyes what a real medieval city looks like, with guard towers and walls of appliances, walls that you can also walk around now. The most successful photos can be made from the main tower, and Lake Trasimeno offers a breathtaking view.
If you have more time to stroll, then visit the castle for 2 hours and then take a stroll along the main street where you will find many souvenir shops, cute little shops or grocery stores with local products. You can spend two more wonderful hours!
