Well, it was just another typical cathedral in Italy. It worth a visit if you have plenty of time and never been to one. Otherwise I will recommend to skip it.

The first cathedral was built over the burial place of Saint Donato, the bishop of the city who was born in Arezzo, on the Pionta Hill, and the construction of this one started in 1278 and was completed in the beginning of the 16th century....More

This cathedral is huge. The side chapel with the works of Della Robbia is stunning. I love these works. The other works in the Cathedral were excellent too. The little lady in the shop was lovely. She gave me free prayer cards and asked where...More

This cathedral is set in an impressive setting with an open park in front of it. Inside is a Piero della Francesca fresco, as well as beautiful stained glass windows. We were able to visit just before they closed for the afternoon.

This Duomo dominates the high point of Arezzo and is set in a spacious open square. Viewed from the square you don't appreciate just how vast is the interior which sadly I found to be rather dark and oppressive but otherwise interesting.

Beautiful glass windows which let the sunlight penetrate gently. Inside there is the grave of a Pope and a special wing dedicated to virgin Mary.

Walking along the via of Arezzo, one can walk up to the Hill and visit the Duomo of San Donato. A first cathedral of Arezzo was built on the nearby Pionta Hill, over the burial place of Donatus of Arezzo, martyred in 363. In 1203...More

Stopped in to see this church on our wanderings through town. It’s high on a hill and somewhat isolated. But there’s a lovely park nearby. No admission charge makes it easier to walk through. Not a very impressive alter but large and nice to see.
