Went for a walk during our free time in Agrigento as the hotel we were staying at was near the square. It started raining and this Duomo was open and we just went inside... wow the paintings inside are amazing... try get there free...

had a very nice guide from the church to explain the details. Rokkoko style in silice = interesting. Visit in the attached museum was even better, amazing library!

After a tiring climb up many many flights of steps you come to the Duomo exhausted and find that it is closed for renovation. Try the Valley of the Temples instead. It’s equally exhausting (it’s on a hill and isn’t in a valley at all)...More

Interesting duomo. The truth is that I didn't enjoyed Agrigento as a city, is very chaotic and full of garbage. This duomo maybe it will be nicer after restoration.

During the 1000 years thereafter it has been renovated. One renovation that was partially accomplished was the introduction of massive rococo embellishments...More

It is possible to enter there, but the main part is still on restoration. According the parts visible, has to be magnificent as the restoration would be complete

This is a fascinating medieval cathedral at the highest point in the old town of Agrigento. The interior is most unusual in that the architecture changes style as you go down the nave, from Norman, to gothic, to a wild baroque explosion of decoration in...More

Some lovely features but not enough to hold attention for long. Would say it is worth popping in while wandering this beautiful city
