We found this convent by chance , and it was indeed a fortunate one : beautiful abbey , well restored and maintained , with interesting exibitions and a wonderful , light architecture .

A nice little church in an otherwise not very inspiring town (the ruins are the main attraction). A friendly nun gave us a tour and explained everything in good english. Having said that, what I loved were the home made typical Sicilian sweets you can...More

Taken on its own this is quite an interesting church but so many others in the area have much more to offer so poor Santo Spirito is rather left in the shade. Small convent adjoining who's nuns are of a silent order who bake and...More

The church is closed to the public but we travelled with Riviera whose guide (Rosario) had a private arrangement with the 86-year-old caretaker to open up the church just for us. (The tips made it well worth her while!) The stuccos by Giacomo Serpotta are...More

Lovely building, but you do get the feeling the nuns are in it for the money... they want an 'offerta' to just let you in, and then try to sell you very expensive biscuits.

Unfortunately the entire structure is closed for various reasons so at the moment it's worth visiting for only two reasons- the architecture (exterior obviously) and to buy the pistachio couscous which is only available from the nuns next door. There is no sign so you...More
