My son and I went to ‘Brass In Concert’. Obviously a brilliant building (and the event itself was great), but ridiculous admin and staffing situations….

without being pre-warned, when we arrived we were told no bags were allowed in the auditorium. We were due to be there for 9 or more hours and had important stuff in the bag, but had to empty what we needed into our pockets! The service was so slow…. It took easily 2mins for the woman to take my bag to a shelf and return with my ticket stub. They said we could easily access the bag again whenever we needed, but the 2 times I did so it took forever to queue, as only one member of staff was doing it, and they again took 2+ mins per bag. Stupid system. There were around 4-8 sitting just round the corner on the main desk chatting permanently most of the day, but only one staff on the cloakroom. Why? And why not allow bags, or at least alert us clearly to it in advance. We arrived 30mins early but spent all of that time queuing for the cloakroom.

Also, we left the auditorium at the end of session 1 to pop to the toilet, then they physically locked us out for the 40min break!!!…. there was nowhere to sit (not enough for 1600 people anyway) and our coats etc (with pockets full of our stuff) we’re locked in the auditorium. Absolute nonsense.

Good job the event was good. But wtf are Sage doing?!

Great venue to see live music. If you travel on foot then it can be a bit tricky to find the right path to the front entrance. Could do with better signage/ lighting.

Have visited here on multiple occasions to see all sorts of things. The acoustics are just phenomenal, it is such a pleasure to have this on my doorstep! Obviously the quality of the acts varies but the Sage as a venue is simply fest rate. Amazing

We went to an event in Sage 2 which is possibly the only decagonal performance space in the world. This gives a really initimate feel. The bars and entrance offer great views. Interesting selection of events.

Went last night to see Go West who were fantastic (shame about Paul Young who was terrible). The Sage is a lovely venue with a fantastic view. We bought a bottle of prosecco which was extremely overpriced at £30 just before the concert was starting. We poured it into plastic cups so we could take it to our seats only to be stopped at the door by staff who told us we couldn't take any drinks inside. Why isn't this allowed and why weren't we informed of this when buying it? When we were leaving at the end of the night, we had to queue to go through a small door when there were other doors that could have been opened. Such a lovely place with ridiculous rules and overpriced drinks.

My first visit since most of the covid restrictions have been lifted.
Disappointed to see that the Brasserie is currently closed(this information should be made available on the website as I'm sure many people would dine here for a pre event meal and then be left with just a café as an option) Quite a few of the staff seemed lacking in basic knowledge of the venue and seating plans. As we were leaving their was a problem with an exit which in turn created a bottleneck, whilst shuffling forward several of the staff were noted to be ignoring the issue and were busy looking at their phones.....
We really enjoyed the concert, great seats.
Its still an iconic venue that we will still continue to support.

It was good to be back after the long Covid absence. We went to see Duke Ellington's Strictly Smoking Big Band with Pete Long, which should have been on about this time last year. It was nice to see the new improved tables and seating in the cafe area. Unfortunately the seating in Sage Two hadn't been improved and was still cramped and as hard as nails. Having said that, the concert was excellent and lasted much longer than advertised, making it even better value for money. The sound was also very well balanced for a change, which was a pleasant surprise.

I love this building and it has really added to the Newcastle Quayside image. Brilliant venue for concerts.

Attended Rick Wakeman Christmas concert. Usual high standard of performance. Underbooked due to Covid for increased circulation. Clean and Covid measures in place throughout. Good selection of drinks and ice creams at half time. Pleasant and competent staff.

We went to see The Snowman accompanied by Eleanor Mooney Narrator and Royal Northern Sinfonia playing the music. It was absolutely fantastic.
It started with a musical narration of We're going on a Bear Hunt. It was fun and engaging for our 2year old and we enjoyed getting on involved too.
Then an interval (the only place I could pick fault as this was slightly to long for the littleys to wait, but once it started again that was quickly forgotten.) Then the snowman with a wonderful rendition of walking in the air by a very young male choir singer.. very emotional performance.
We sat on level 1 row J and thought the view was great. I think the view from anywhere would of been great but because the auditorium was filled with children I believe any further back the noise from the children may have impacted the sound quality of the orchestra. But in our seats it was crystal clear.
We paid for two adults and had our two year old on our knee for free, which is where she would of chose to sit regardless so it was great that we didn't have to pay for her.
We pre paid parking at the sage for the full day (great value at only 4.80) and went for lunch. Otherwise an hourly charge of 1.80. Really recommend pre paying and being charged the extra pound or so even if your only staying for the length of the show this way you will avoid the extremely long queues waiting for the car park pay machines and can go straight to the car and leave.
All in all an absolutely excellent day that we are hoping to make an annual tradition.
