Saltwell Park is huge with lots to see and do. There is play parks, a lake, a train ride, toilets on site, ice cream van, Saltwell towers which offers a coffee shop, a maze, lots of wildlife and pleanty of benches to sit on and pavilions to sit under. There is lots of green space. It appeared well kept and clean.

See photo it's not fun for all the family if you have a disabled child wheelchair user as there's no access! The drivers need some customer service training and Gateshead council need to get the train made accessible before they're sued!
The rest of the park is good ☺️

This would have got a 5 rating if it wasn’t for the attitude of a member of staff in the towers cafe.
The park is kept nice , plenty of bins, activities for kids, plenty of walking/running paths, tennis courts, playing fields, lakes etc.
lovely Saltwell towers with cafe, not a great deal of food options but a little for everyone.
One member of staff had no manners and had an attitude when I asked if they had certain items what I had before but couldn’t see….not all staff like this.

My favourite park! Saltwell Park is ideal for access when you have a pram/pushchair, the paths are properly laid (not muddy/gravel as with a lot of other places) and offers lovely routes to walk around.

The lake is full of ducks and swans and there is lots of nature to observe in the park itself, squirrels galore, all ideal when out with little ones. Pet Corner is tucked away and there are exotic birds and parrots, which you can look at too.

The park is always beautifully kept and a nice environment.

Adventurous park, great for a picnic, run or children to play in. There is a lake/boat area situated in the middle of the park (which was slightly dirty and closed when I went). There is also a children's play area, maze area, rose garden and a nice cafe, with toilets inside (located in the Saltwell towers). Surprisingly stumbled across a mini animal area, where there were peacocks, peahens, parrots and birds.

Classic Victorian style town park, with a pond, lots of walkways, plenty of trees, and a children's play area.

I was there for Gateshead parkrun.

Free car parking.

I often take a disabled child here and am surprised the Fun Train is allowed to state fun for all the family, it should state fun for all the family, unless you're disabled and in a wheelchair!
Also do the drivers need to be so miserable and intimidating.

A relaxing amble through the park with numerous paths to follow. I must admit I was expecting much of the lake after hearing about it and was a little underwhelmed by it in reality. Never the less a decent visit. Some artworks dotted around the grounds were curious.
