Overview
More
The current bandstand was built in 1935, with its unique semi-circular design and blue domed roof; there is no other like it in the United Kingdom. It has a main arena, middle and upper balconies and seats for 1,600. For many years the Bandstand has played host to a full programme of concerts and events and has survived as a outdoor musical entertainment venue because of its ever changing programme, introducing new audiences and new entertainment's without forgetting the more popular traditional concerts. The Bandstand to this day plays an important part in the musical entertainment on the south coast offering around 140 - 150 concerts per year.

We saw the Wealden Brass Band. I didn`t know what to expect but it was great. We were served a variety of tunes, compilations and two guest artists. A soprano and a chap who played the bagpipes? The venues was packed out and the seating...More

At a loose end Friday evening we decided to purchase 2 tickets (£7.95 each) for this event. What a great decision, excellent tribute act with some 60's favourites thrown in. Lots of people up dancing and jiving and a bar to refresh yourself. All on...More

Band music by amateur players clearly enjoying their performance under an energetic band leader. One or two solo players did ok. But somehow playing the 1812 Overture with a band this size doesn't quite 'do it' to fireworks! Also rather than play a couple of...More

First time visit to the bandstand to see Badness. The venue is unique and very British. People were queuing an hour or so to get in but there were enough seats to easily accommodate everyone who had booked. The height of the bandstand stage helps...More

This is titled as the busiest bandstand in the UK and certainly as far as I am aware it is unique. There are shows on every day during peak holiday season and the ticket prices are very reasonable. On Wednesday evenings at 7.30 the doors...More

Located right on the seafront a lovely looking bandstand. Can visit it in the day time when empty and just the seats are out or if you are lucky enough to see a performance there then you’re in for a great time.
