Mozart was probably Salzburg's most famous resident and he is ubiquitous: you can visit his birthplace and childhood home and see references to his works throughout the city. This statue (unveiled in 1842 in a grand ceremony attended by huge crowds and King Ludwig of Bavaria) is in the centre of Mozartplatz, essentially the centre of Salzburg's tourist trail (the tourist information office and starting point for guided tours are here).…

There is no doubt that Mozart is the greatest musical composer of all time. It is only therefore fitting to have such a monument erected in his name, in one of the most picturesque cities in the World! We were really delighted to be here. This was my 3rd time visiting. Easy to find by Salzburg cathedral in a big square. Had nice flowers played at the base. Has nearby benches for you rest on your walk around the Old Town.

When you are the home of the most famous composer, you have to have a statue to him. This is a great statue in a great square. It is one of the first things we saw when we began our day. The Salzburg tourism office is located on the square so it was here we picked up our Salzburg card and began our day. Great way to start with a statue of the native son…

One of the popular sites in Salzburg even though to be honest there is nothing much to do or see here. After waiting for your turn to take unblocked pictures of yourself and the statue, you may want to go to the Tourist Information Centre and then you will be on your way to somewhere else.…
