We saw the banner and went in to find that the exhibition was not open. There is a small exhibition of dusty wood sculptures that look uncared for, It was disappointing

Amazing array of tools from bygone days, definitely worth a visit. The building has an impressive basement ...lovely.

This private collection full of many artefacts illlustrates life as it was in Malta. And the cafe in the courtyard is well worth a visit - their cakes are to die for!

If there was a price tag attached we would have avoided this place. However, with nothing to lose we did spend a few minutes looking around.
Don’t make a special visit unless the topic really floats your boat.

We chanced upon this museum by accident, not realising at first that the building was open to visitors. There's also a nice looking cafe/restaurant on the ground floor here. The museum was small, and we didn't spend long browsing - but it was worth calling in.
Usefully, the building houses WC facilities.

The museum may be interesting for someone interested in the topic. I would like to draw your attention to the fact that Mdina is famous for the handicraft "Mdina Glass". We visited the museum mainly because it was hot and we left glad not only because of the lower temperature during sightseeing.

We paid €4 each to go into the museum (staff at the bar were very helpful to show us how to get in).
The collection of tools is more like an art gallery than a museum. There were only about 5 signs with information explaining what you are looking at. On the whole you are left feeling not sure what you are loking at (unless you happen to be a collector of old tools yourself perhaps).
One of the few signs did even have a mistake - the sign in the measurement for 1cm was clearly about 2cm wide!
Don't expect much and you won't be disappointed.
We suggest before you have to pay the entrance fee a sign explains the nature of the visit - i.e. it is more of an unexplained collection than an informative museum.

This is one man´s collection of tools used in the 19th and early 20th century on Malta. From doctor´s items, to stonemasons gear. It is quite a large collection, but there is a lack of information, so currently it is more a museum for those interested in tools, either generally or some specific kind. The display is quite nice. Entrance to this museum is included in the cathedral/cathedral museum ticket. Ask at the bar to open the door.

We paid the €4 each to get in but the entrance door was left open so whilst we were there at least another 20 people entered for free.
The collection is a very good historical display of tools and trades. However, less and less people will know their uses if information is not given. We knew the uses of many but were still perplexed by many. Either display cards or a leaflet guide will make this little collection a great collection.
