- BrakiWorldTravelerBelgrade, Serbia19,450 contributionsCute Church above VikDuring our Iceland tour we saw many such Churches. Many of them are totally isolated with nothing around and a perfect picture op. This one is charming due to its position above the small town of Vik. It overlooks the town and the black sand beach with basalt cliffs in the background. Unfortunately due to ongoing funeral procession we couldn't enter it.Visited October 2023Travelled with familyWritten 28 November 2023
- SydneyPerla653 contributionsAwesome viewsWe cannot really say if the church is beautiful from the inside. But for the best Photo ever you simply follow the path uphill (a 4 WD) would also do. On top there is the cemetery and from there you can enjoy a beautiful look down to the church and the surroundings. We really loved it.Visited April 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 5 April 2024
- product-of-canadaToronto, Canada2,492 contributionsWhere to go for post card photoThis church, with the coast as the backdrop, is used in many promotional photos in Iceland. You will visit it as part of many tours that do the South Coast day trip. I was glad to have visited it from the outside. Some blue sky would have been nice for the photo, though. Right in town, at the bottom of this hill where the church is, by the water, is a huge gift shop in addition to a grocery store. This was some of the best selection I've ever seen for souvenirs during our 1 week stay. Could not believe I could find a great toque for about $14 USD.Visited July 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 24 September 2024

Each with its own unique features. We were not able to enter, but the church is situated on top of a ridge giving a panoramic view of the nearby town and Atlantic coast. Worth the extra 30 minutes of time to appreciate the bright colors and the excellent view.Visited September 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 28 September 2024

Incredible view of the small town of Vik from the church parking lot! We went around 11:00 PM in June and the views were spectacular!

This is great spot for a scenic view of the town, mountains and ocean. Easy to reach, right off the Ring Road at the center of town. Good Photo Op.

This picturesque church is set at the base of a green mountain along the short road to Reynisfjara beach from Highway 1. Sheep gaze on the nearby hills. Our short stop was very peaceful.

The Vik Church sits on a hill overlooking Vik and Highway 1 and offers an excellent view of the Reynisdrangar as well as the coast looking east.
The church was not open when we visited.

A lovely traditional protestant church--stark and austere--perched high on a bluff overlooking the harbor of Vik.

This is one of our favorite photos from trip. We didn't go to church but the picturesque church surrounded by tall green mountains was an amazing photo from the town of Vik.
This area was our favorite on our drive around the Ring Road of Iceland.

Vik Church is a very nice building, staying atop of a hill looking over the town. It was a nice stop to rest our bodies, and fill our souls with the atmosphere.

This quaint church in Vik sits on a high bluff over the village. It provides an excellent prospect of the coastline while surrounded by beautiful lupine!
