- Stephen dWashington DC, District of Columbia10 contributionsYou can swim outside in December! The staff was very friendly. They are strict about showering without your swim suit on before entering the pool, and while it is a communal shower, it is separated by gender. The Olympic sized pool is cooler than the shallow kids play area, but by no means freezing despite the outside temperature being -4C. This is a fantastic place to spend a few hours relaxing or getting your exercise in regardless of the time of year!Visited December 2023Travelled with familyWritten 31 December 2023
- themaddog74310 contributionsClean place with loads of different things to do.Unfortunately, we were unable to visit the Blue Lagoon due to it being closed, so we needed to find an alternate place for some relaxation in the Reykjavik area. We spent 2 hours at Laugardalslaug in the evening and enjoyed the different hot tubs and the atmosphere. It is a clean family friendly place with many different pools including an indoor pool, waterslide, gym, steam room. When we visited it, it was 2 degrees, but we were perfectly warm and the outdoor pool was warm enough for training.Visited January 2024Travelled with familyWritten 4 January 2024
- jrapeterBude, United Kingdom907 contributionsExcellent value for the facilitiesDue to unforeseen circumstances - bloody huge volcanic eruptions☹️, the Blue Lagoon was closed and thus the other Lagoons were quickly booked up. However, apart from any views, surroundings etc one would maybe question why pay all that money when there are facilities like this at a minimal cost. £7.50 each including locker - Olympic warm water outdoor swimming pool, other pools (including great kids slides etc), an indoor pool, varying hot tubs up to 44 deg C, a cold tub area (7 deg C 🥶), a large steam room, a saltwater heated spa pool and the list goes on. We had a great 2 hours even though it rained a couple of times - when you are wet you are wet and the water you are in is warm anyway!Visited March 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 18 March 2024
- Christina ONorfolk, Virginia327 contributionsOutdoor swimThe laug is really good, clean changing rooms, lockers without charging, wristbands, 50m indoor and outdoor pool nice and warm and about 6 different hot tubs and a steam room. Kids area and a good slide. My favorite after visiting 3 laugs in ReykjavikVisited June 2024Travelled with familyWritten 18 June 2024
- Catherine P34 contributionsgood way to fill timea fun way to spend our last day and eat up time before heading to the airport. not as pretty as the pictures. i love the different pool options, but it is a little run down and sand everywhere. the people are rude. don't expect to take any pictures here, you cannot take your phone in the pool.Visited July 2024Travelled with familyWritten 1 August 2024

Laugardalslaug is the heart of the city. It's where the locals go to relax and it's a wonderful facility.
Yes, the paint is flaking and yes, it doesn't look bright and shiny, but it has by far the best facilities in the city, and the prices are extremely reasonable.
It's essential that you follow the guidelines and shower properly before you go in. For people that prefer privacy there are individual cubicles available.
The best experience is had by alternating the hot tubs something like this: 42c, 5c, 42c, 5c, 44c, 5c, 43c salt. The 5c is amazing and well worth acclimatising to.
For those who are 'proper' swimmers, there are 50m outdoor and indoor pools and both are excellent. For families, the kids' areas and slides are great fun.
If you're looking for the full experience, after your visit turn right out of the door and walk 100m to the Pylsuvagninn (hot dog wagon) and have an Icelandic-style hot dog.

We had a fantastic time in Reykjavic, the first day we spent in the city and visited the Hallgrimskirkja Church, the views from the Bell tower are breath-taking and I would recommend visiting. On the way back to the Ship we went into the Hard Rock Cafe for a drink and would found that interesting with excellent service.
On the second day we visited the Blue Lagoon and that was amazing, I can't speak highly enough of this experience and would advise anyone to try it if they get chance.
It's also a great place for cat lovers as they seem to be in lots of places and even do cat tours.
I would highly recommend a visit to Reykjavic.

Gunner gave me the best massage I’ve ever had, truly took pride in his craft. The saunas and plunge pool in the spa were also top tier, and the outside pool was an experience in winter. Full recommend this place, especially if you ever get stuck in reykjavik during the winter because your tour has been cancelled!

The kids loved this pool - and we loved the hot pots. This was one of the highlights of our trip and I wish we had more pools like this in the States. We would be there every day! We also loved that the kids were encouraged to be independent and there was a noticeable lack of helicopter parenting. What a refreshing change from the parenting stress so typical in the US.

Essentially, the local leisure centre but they do it so well in Iceland! We went on a recommendation that this is how the locals do it. There is a 50m outdoor pool, 4x hot tubs (all different temperatures) outdoors and a salt water tub as well as Childrens pool… all heated by geothermal springs… go have a swim, sit and chat, watch the world go by!
Everyone has to shower naked before entering, but the set up is brilliant, locker keys are digital, no coins needed. There are storage places for towels and shoes… no need to carry things around or worry about someone taking them! Also shampoo/shower gel in the showers.

It's the most popular swimming pool in Iceland, so it's most of the time quite crowded (over the summer time). It's also popular in the winter time but much less though, understandably.
It's got a big nice kids area on land and in the pool. 4 hot tubs if I remember correctly and one Ocean tub and one Cold tub.

Great place to visit!
Traditional geothermal pools. Approx £6 for an adult. Locker keys are provided.
Leave your shoes outside the changing rooms or put in one of the plastic bags and take with you.
Towel racks are next to the showers so you're expected to take your towel with you but leave on the rack (people don't take their towels out to the pools).
Large swimming pool, decent sized kids pool, multiple hot tubs and varying temperatures and there's a steam room (but this isn't in the best condition!).
Nice place to relax.

We came here our first night in Iceland, in an effort to entertain the kids while soaking off jet lag. We were not disappointed. The facility is huge, with multiple large pools and hot tubs, and a really fun waterslide that my kids enjoyed dozens of times. We especially loved that we were the only Americans there -- almost everyone else was local. This felt like an authentic local family experience, at a very reasonable price point. Highly recommend for families.

We visited twice during our visit to Iceland. An interesting place, the pools and hot tubs are outside. The first evening we visited it was snowing so was a unique experience sitting in 40 degree hot tub with snow on the ground. We noticed this was mostly used by locals, it's part of their culture.
At about £6 each it's well worth a visit.

We’re not planning to rent a car. Is there bus transportation to any of the hot pools from city center? Airports?
Written 16 February 2019
Absolutely! I'm not sure of the bus numbers, but there is transportation available by city bus to all areas.

Hi -- we are going to Reykjavik this weekend, arriving at 6am but our Air BnB is not ready til 4pm. We will be right near Laugardalslaug Swimming Pool. Is it the kind of place where we could spend the day, just relaxing while we wait for our room to be ready? Thank you!
Written 2 August 2018
Sure! There’s hot tubs of various temperatures, water volleyball, a lap pool, and a slide/place for kids to play.
Written 11 September 2018
I brought a microfiber towel with me. I do seem to recall that you can rent a towel as well. Make sure to pack soap and shampoo- -only bathroom hand soap provided.
