- Robin M5 contributionsGreat advice and planningThe young lady who helped us book our excursions was delightful! She listened to what we wanted and matched us with good companies and helped us plan our day to fit in two special excursions. The whale watching trip was exhilarating and the horse ranch was beautiful. The staff at both places were friendly and helpful.Visited July 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 9 July 2024

I have NEVER in my life met an agency with that much eager to please. Both Svenja and Sirry were very helpfull, super -friendly and incredibly knowlegdable. They suggested us the best trips to take, in accordance with our itinerary; they followed and helped us throughout our entire journey (we were caught up in a snowstorm so we couldn't enjoy all the booked trips: well they contacted the different eventing venues and rescheduled them where possible or cancelled and refunded them if it was no longer possible to fit in to our program). They kept us informed about updates, changes and other possibilities - sometimes up to 3 times a day!! two amazing and incredible girls, and you know what: very nice to look at as well!! We (my two daughters and myself, drove the last day to Reykjavik just to say hi and thnak them for their INCREDIBLE service. no question about it: we will come back to Iceland and book everything immediately with them all over again.

The staff here couldn’t have been friendlier. They were very helpful in answering our questions and finding us transfers to and from the airport and tours, including Blue Lagoon. You can also store your bags there for a small fee, which we had to do as we needed to transfer airbnbs during our stay.

Thor was amazing and super helpful. After a cancelled tour (not booked through what’s on) Thor recommend me an alternative tour and it was a much better choice to combine golden circle with blue lagoon. Thor was super helpful and very professional. I only can recommend booking through what’s on Iceland

Don't bother asking them to find trips for the following day, we tried to book a trip, agreed a price, then got confirmation for the wrong date.
It took them 4 hours to find out the trip couldn't be booked by which time it was too late to look elsewhere.
Total waste of a day's holiday for us when all we wanted is help booking a day trip!!

Dear CeriamJ,
I am aware of the situation that occurred and due to an unfortunate set of events it was indeed not possible to book you.
So we are sorry that you were unable to book this tour.
There were some issues with the booking system used by the tour company you were trying to book. They assured our staff member that there was space so she booked for an available date which they were then to move to the correct date. Ultimately they came back to tell her that the tour was fully booked, whilst all along they had communicated that there would be no problem.
We did have a plan B to get you there but unfortunately, you never came back to our office and chose to cut of the phone conversation.
We hope otherwise that you had an enjoyable visit to Iceland.
Kv,
Ewan

There is a tourist information centre further up Laugavegur, but I never saw it open during my 2 weeks in Iceland.....annd ignore the signage at the start of Laugavegur too: there once was a tourist information centre there, but as a sign in the window of a souvenir shop makes clear, it isn't there any more. This means the What's On office has become the tourist information centre by default. I went in three times over my 2 weeks to ask for help: twice I was given all the information I needed. The first time the rather curt girl behind the counter gave me wrong information rather grudgingly - while she did tell me which bus I needed to get to Vestmanjaer, she didn't tell me how to get to Mjodd bus station and she told me you could pay on board the bus with chip and pin (you can't: you have to buy a ticket with cash, or inn advance). However on the other 2 occasions the (different) girls I spoke to could not have been more helpful and answered my questions patiently, checking the answer as well. They publish a helpful What's On in Reykjavik monthly: I took a (free) copy ad found it informative and helpful.

Located on one of the main streets of Reikjavik, Laugavegur, this vacationer service center is effective. Its attendees were helpful and gave us tips on what to do in the city, but also suggest tours and make their reservations. We were renting a car and did not use the services of tours.

Valurthor from What’s On went above and beyond the call of duty to provide us with solid tourist advise and memorable tours. Picturesque views and unforgettable moments. His recommendations made our trip one for the books. He’s definitely going to be part of the story of my first ever visit to Iceland. His focus on customer service bars none and checked on us even on his days off. What’s On couldn’t have hired a better tour guide. 5 days we have were packed with activities but were still not enough. Definitely coming back for a part 2! Highly recommended!

are the Northern Lights visible in Iceland during January?
Written 8 January 2019
Northern Lights are visible from late August to early April. Basically, it needs to be dark enough that we can see the stars. The biggest problem is the clouds get in the way. :) Contact us at info@whatson.is for bookings and advice. Regards, Ewan

What kind of adaptor is needed to charge an iPhone in Iceland?
Written 24 October 2017
Are iPads currently allowed to be carry on from US TO Iceland and Iceland to US?
I'm afraid to check it for fear it may be stolen. Thank you so kindly for your response. Please tell me how recently you flew.
Written 22 May 2017
Hi,
I am certain that it is only when flying from certain countries that there is a ban in place. US and Iceland are exempt.
As you are flying from the US to Iceland and back you are fine. I recommend you take it as hand luggage, which is what I personally do. Which airline are you flying with? You can contact us directly via email if you like.
Regards,
Ewan
