I can think of only two cathedrals in the world built of corrugated iron. This is one of them (the other is in Torshavn in the Faroe Islands). This might not sound much of a recommendation, but the interior of this simple, historic church is...More

Most people here are reviewing the large and imposing church "Hallgrímskirkja" that sits prominently atop a hill overlooking all of Reykjavík. They assume as many do that, that is the cathedral. That is wrong. The cathedral is down town, next to the parliament. It's real...More

We took a walk around the Old Town of Reykjavik and found this beautiful stone Cathedral. It is Lutheran and was built 1788 to 1796. The inside was small but very beautiful.

Originally built in the 1790's and expanded in the 1840’s, this small but very well maintained Cathedral is adjacent to the parliament building and is well worth a quick visit. Its centrepiece is a 19th century lovely baptismal font directly in front of the main...More

Reykjavik's premier architect designed this cathedral modeled after typical geological formations found on the coastal cliffs. The pipe organ is World Class and worth attending the free concerts.

We visit a lot of churches around the world and this one is not overly ornate, has a great location, and is peaceful.

We walked into the Church to view the beautiful interior. It’s not much to look at on the exterior but nice on the inside. Right on the edge of old town.

A very small church near the Parliament building. Mo tall tower unlike Hallgrimskirkja or the catholic cathedral. Whitewashed walls outside. Inside a beautiful old church with a lovely pulpit.

Free Bach concert at 5:30 Tuesday nights. Piano in a small, golden church. It was a magical experience that was all too short.

This is a small Lutheran church built in the 1800's on a site that has always been a church site since I think the 12 century. It is a small church but clean and better furnished than other more famous taller church., OK for a...More

This church is good for a quick visit, but isn't nearly as impressive as the big church on the hill. We found out too late there is a free Bach concert every Tuesday evening, which we would have enjoyed.
