Olsmidjan is in one of the oldest houses in Iceland built in 1877 and is the first stone house built in Reykjavik. The bar is a big attraction to locals and tourists due to the low price on the famous Icelandic Gull beer and the atmosphere is very easy and relaxed!

Ölsmiðjan looks a little live an old-fashioned tavern, the sort of place for a glass of local beer and a chat with the locals, and so it is. As the prices are low by Iceland standards (under 600 kr for a half-litre of Gull), it's...More

Came in here as a couple of English tourists not having read the reviews thankfully, just wanted a local beer at a good price, the Mrs asked for 1/2, friendly barman told us price was same for a pint, Barman asked where we’d been in...More

A local said this place was a good stop since they have $5 beers. Although the beers were cheap, the bartender did not want to give us tourists the time of the day. We definitely turned some heads as it was almost entirely locals. Pretty...More

Walked in to be greeted by “cigarette break”. When he served us we asked for cocktails to be laughed at so I suggest that the bar shouldn’t offer cocktails if they can’t be bothered making them! His attitude stunk and was very rude! While our...More

This bar serves cheap beer, which is obviously very rare in Iceland. But they do not want tourists in here. I can understand that, but it wasn't very pleasant getting laughed at by bar tenders. Felt really unwelcome, but I doubt management will care on...More

I was travelling to Iceland alone and when I found this bar I was happy as first the price for beer is very normal comparing to other crazy prices in Iceland 🙈 the atmosphere is ok. Some people are rough, but no one bothers you....More

If I was to talk about the facilities and the non-existent atmosphere I would probably rate it with 2 stars but it's the cheapest place in Reykjavík by far (590 kr. for a pint of Gull) and also one of the few pubs where you...More

Not incredibly friendly bartenders, but this is a cool mostly locals bar with very affordable drinks (for Reykjavik). Lively atmosphere and fun music. Would definitely go back if I'm in town again.

This bar was pretty cool. It doesn't look like your typical dive bar. The bartender recommended a good local beer, the prices were good and there was a lot of comfortable soft seating. A+!

Found what I would refer to as the local dive bar but a decent one. 500Kr for a gull beer with 400kr select shots. Cheapest beers we've found so far! Best thing, there's no happy hour...it's happy days so that's the price all day everyday.
