One of the worst “attractions” in Lapland

Bought early bird tickets and had read dreadful reviews on Facebook about Snowglow. Tried to get a refund in advance but they refused

There were a total of 10 people there when we went in the evening pre-Christmas.

A couple of lame light displays so hardly the amazing light display that was advertised.

There was a small man made hill to go down on a slider board which lasted all of about 15 seconds.

3 Zorb balls, one of which you could climb inside

A kids snowmobile where you could exchange a token for approx 5 short laps

4 domes which could sit in

The worst circus show I’ve ever seen, even worse when sitting outside in the sun zero temperatures to watch someone playing a guitar, a juggler and a trapeze artist. None of which were particularly talented or daring

Thena large marquee with 3 silly fairground games where you could win a prize (which were all low quality and looked second hand)

Oh and a bar!

I love to support local ventures and new ones, but this was one of the worst I’ve been to anywhere in the world

Please don’t waste your money on it.

Go to the small ice rink in Lordi Square for 10 euros per person or visit one of the free Santa experiences in Lordi Square or Santa Claus Village instead.

First year of this place running and it is taking so much shape. We have spent approx 4 hours here now in Feb and we all had so much fun. 2 adults and 1 child 5 years old. The circus is short but okay and the guys are fun and very friendly. Everyone puts so much effort in making this happening. The circus school was fun, all children present enjoyed this bit. The sledging was great, plenty and many different sledges. The lights are beautiful (1 wasn’t working but it did not make a difference plus they were working on getting it sorted). Beautiful igloos, very cosy with heating, benches, sofas - simply beautiful. Snowmobile was fun, the guy was very friendly and helped my daughter to drive it. So caring. Overall a 10/10! So worth the entry price. Games are fun and craft is definitely a touch as you can take something home. I do recommend visiting this place 100%, better when it is dark I would add.

On our recent trip to Lapland in December, we decided to try Snowglow, as it was their first year there was no pictures or reviews, so we wasn’t sure how good it was going to be.

It is located at the football stadium in the middle of Rovaniemi, if you are visiting by car there is paid street parking along all of the surrounding roads and a shopping centre next door that allows an hours free parking. As my family had planned to make a day of this trip I had a quick chat with someone on the desk and they told me I could put my car in a car park at the back of the stadium for free.

Upon arrival we were greeted by very friendly staff and amazing lights for some cool photos.

Then we moved on to the activities, zorb balls ranging in sizes from small to a giant hamster ball, ice skating, sledging, and some kids snowmobiles.

Just the snowmobiles on their own were worth the entrance fee, I spent a lot of time researching where the kids can get to drive their own snowmobiles and there aren’t too many places outside of Santa’s village, they are all expensive and even if you book them you have to queue for an hour… not here we were straight on it was included in the price and they were brand new and faster.

If you have a mix of ages and it’s a cold day, don’t worry there is lovely igloos with heaters and cosy seats for the grandparents to warm up while you try to peel the kids away from the zorb balls.

After doing all of the activities we headed into the stadium cafe where we were greeted by the owner to make sure we were enjoying ourselves.

Make sure you check out the website and remember what she looks like… her name is Tian, she’s absolutely lovely, but she’s very humble, so she probably won’t tell you she is the genius behind the event. I’m struggling for words to describe what an amazing person she is, she has poured her heart and soul into this project, she has big plans to make it even better and she cares more about making sure everyone has the best time than making money.

Other than the skate hire which wasn’t expensive, I didn’t need to spend any money, which was a shame because I felt like Tian deserved more than just the ticket price and she won’t accept tips. So we definitely got our moneys worth.

It was a very cold day so most of the family watched the circus performers from the comfort of the cafe, but me and my daughter sat in the stands. The performers were so good and at -18, I have no idea how they managed to do the show in what they were wearing, we were wrapped up and it was freezing just watching.

After this we visited the activity tent, where the kids could do arts and crafts or some games, I really liked the Angry Birds catapult, what a great idea! The problem was as we had 4 adults and only 2 kids, the tickets we were given at the entrance were enough for the kids to do everything including winning prizes without spending a penny and we even took a free souvenir to paint at home.

I know I should not be complaining about everything being free, but we visited expecting it to be expensive just like everywhere else in Lapland, I even took a bag full of drinks and snacks to save money, yet we ended up walking away with free stuff after having a great day out, and I felt like I had ripped them off.

After dark this is a great spot for instagrammers who can spend a couple of hours taking photos, but it’s an absolute must visit for anyone with a young family, we got there early and spent about 5 hours enjoying all of the activities and that’s without queuing.

Tian,

Thank you for providing such a wonderful experience, I’d love to see what new things you will come up with next year and I am sure this will become a top tourist destination after you smashed your first year.

I don't recommend this experience at all.
It is very expensive for what it is.
A good price should have been around ~10 euros per person.
