Skansen Zoo at Skansen you will find both domestic and wild Nordic animals such as bears, wolves and lynx. Don't miss our guided tours in English during the summer and in December. Our newly-opened Children's Zoo gives youngsters the opportunity to meet a variety of interesting animals.Added attractions Skansen hold a traditional celebrations to mark occasions such as Walpurg is Night, Midsummer and Christmas. Neighbourhood: Djurgården & Djurgårdsbrunn
The island of Djurgården and its northern mainland extension, Djurgårdsbrunn, impress with a mix of nature and an abundance of museums, while being located in walking distance to Stockholm’s city center. Djurgården not only invites visitors to take endless walks through a beautiful park landscape without having to leave the city, but also offers an incredible range of entertainment facilities, such as an open air museum which specializes in the Swedish way of life pre-industrialization, the renowned Vasa Museum with its legendary sailing ship, and Sweden’s most famous amusement park Gröna Lund, which is more than a 100 years old.

Lovely walk with picturesque view
Oct 2021
We visited the open zoo and baltic center in Skansen and we could see the old village which looks beautiful. We could see pigs, geese, bears, moose, and seal to name a few. Lovely to have a day out to watch the picturesque view and the zoo. We got some hot dogs (vegan option available) and hot wine which can help with the weather.

Little Sweden to explore
Oct 2021 • Couples
Great place to spend a couple of hours - many authentic Swedish crafts to explore - lots of different little Swedish housing areas - typical Swedish animals - nice view from up the hill

They kill healthy animals
Oct 2021 • Solo
They kill healthy animals for no reason at all. For example, if they are tired of wolves and want foxes instead, they kill the wolves. In 2021-10-06 four healthy wolves were killed. In 2020 statistics shows that 97 animals on Skansen were killed/died. Between 2017-2019 142 animals died. Do not go there because then you are supporting this madness!

Don’t miss it - historical village
Sep 2021 • Couples
This is an outstanding place when many live demonstrations. When we were here, the major demonstrations were open from 10 am - noon. Kids activities with animals were in the afternoon.

I have been to many living historical places and this was the best

Beautiful historic buildings and park, great native animals
Oct 2021 • Couples
Skansen is a very great place to spend a day while in Stockholm, whether you're with kids or without.
The historic buildings are beautiful and there's boards with interesting info. If you go there in high-season, there's markets, food stands, restaurants and of course loads of other visitors. We visited off-season and there were people, but not so many. Few of the actors were still there, telling you stuff about the houses and tgere where possibilities to get coffee and eat. There's a small fairground for little kids too.
The farm animal part of the park is perfect for kids.
There's a rather large part where the native northern animals live in spacious and well structured enclosures. Near the entrance there's a small zoo with exotic animals, for which you pay extra.
We'd definitely go there again.

great for a full day fun with kids
Aug 2021
This one is big. Book full day. There are plenty to do and see. You will have many opportunities to sit, rest, eat, drink. Great place to show kids how life looked like in old times. Many operating workshops and active places with people presenting jobs and activities from centuries ago. Also Skansen area includes aquarium, zoo and huge cage for Lemurs. Zoo is big and animals have mostly large area to run and hide. Many we have not seen because animals were hidden. This is a plus, as normally I do not like zoos, because animals are packed very tight and have bad conditions. It is fun to just go around. Do not skip Lemurs and aquarium, it was fantastic.

Nice, large park with a lot of places to sit down for a bit. Even though it was raining, the houses were open and there was a lot to do and see. This type of open-air museum exists in many countries, but the animals here were a nice touch. We went there early in the morning, so it was still quiet. Unfortunately, the sea science center exceptionally closed early without any warning at the entrance. Also, the aquarium was an additional 140 SEK to the main entry ticket price of 220 SEK, which is not indicated at the main entrance. If not for this, I would have given 5 stars.

Amazing
Jun 2021
I Love Skansen i can visit again and again and discover new parts and new scenery as the open air museum is mostly outdoors and you see nature change with the seasons and the weather. Great outdoors activity and walking with breathtaking views of Stockholm. Skansen displays on its grounds lots of various architecture found across Sweden. This is for adults and for children.
