My hotel was located just opposite the harbour, so my partner and I decided to take a stroll there.. We were pleasantly surprised when we realised that the walk extended all the way out back with an amazing view of the port, the seaside and the Koules Fortress.
It seems that every big town in Crete has an “Old Venetian Port”. Heraklion is no exception. The port has nice views, stores, restaurants and cruise possibilities. It’s also on the edge of the old town, and both can be visited together. It is a must visit while in Heraklion.
Entering the city we drove towards the Port. We noticed there was parking at the Port close to the marina and harbour and fortress. It was only €2.50 for the day. Payment made at barrier.
