Overview
More
The Kinderdijk UNESCO World Heritage site is a unique icon of Dutch water management and control. All the phases of the history of our struggle against water are still visible here. The unique collection of 19 mills in an authentic Dutch landscape is an eye catcher. Museum windmill Nederwaard shows how families lived and worked in our mills around 1900. And in Museum windmill Blokweer you can experience working as a miller. View our multi-screen film in the Visitors Centre, located in the former steam-driven pumping station. Get on board of our electric vessel, the Prince Friso, and view Kinderdijk from the water. Feel the wind, smell the water and listen to the sound of the windmills. The Kinderdijk World Heritage site is open almost the entire year!

This is a cultural center for the Netherlands. They have multiple windmill homes with few visitors center. The one windmill as a visitor felt a bit haunted, if anyone is into that, you'll enjoy the story behind it. The overall experience was fun, but the...More

Took water boat to Kinderdijk to see the windmills. It is half an hour on boat to get here from Rotterdam and the scenery on the way is very good. The windmill museum has a small cafe with hot food and drinks at reasonable price....More

We spent a very pleasant hour or two learning about the dykes of Holland and wandering down the walkways. Also the lifestyle of the families living on the windmills. Highly recommend getting this on to your itinerary.

Came here by waterbus, costs around 4 euro per ticket (one way). The weather is good but very vey sunny in the morning, so can’t really capture good photo at some angles. But overall is good. I don’t think it’s necessary to enter the museum,...More

It’s worth the visit. There are waterbuses available or bus from Rotterdam Central Station. Opt to walk to the mills rather than use a bike. There various activities at mill you can purchase tickets for. If you not into that sort of thing just enjoy...More

You can’t visit the Netherlands without seeing windmills and you can’t get more authentic than Kinderdijk. A peaceful place to enjoy the beauty of the windmills.

Very nice on a sunny and warm day when it is not crowded. You should not visit it during the high season or on a cold day. Mills are very nice to see.

Go early to avoid crowds. A good suggestion is to leave the car further away and then bike (parking is too small and costly). If you have the time, plan to spend a couple of hours there, pack some lunch, and enjoy the landscape and...More
