In the heart of Amsterdam's bustling centre lies one of the city's oldest museums: Museum Our Lord in the Attic. Here visitors get to experience the Dutch Golden Age in a special way: a 17th-century house with a top floor converted into a Catholic church.

We have been hearing that this is a must and we are so glad we did. Just a few blocks away from our hotel we had no problems finding it. First the staff was very friendly and helpful. It is resemble priced. Very good introduction...More

But what an attic! A really interesting 90min pondering over how pragmatic the Dutch were even centuries back... both the Catholics who effectively joined the top floors of three town houses then 'carved' a majestic structure for regular worship, and the protestants who let them.

This was a great way to see an attic church and the interior of a canal house in a relatively short visit. I had some difficulty finding the museum but it was well worth it.

Amsterdam has some wonderful museums outside the Museumplein area that are well worth seeking out. This one takes only about an hour to go through but provides wonderful insight into a part of Dutch history that we (at least) had not previously known much about...More

Wonderful revelation about the not-so-secret practice of Catholicism in a wealthy merchant's home. The commentary is terrific. The two-story church is gorgeous. The steps are very steep and small so be forewarned!

I really really really liked this place. Normally I find myself automatically yawning in museums but this hidden gem was fantastic. Loved the audio guides which came with multiple languages and interesting stories, narrative and extras. Well well well worth a visit whilst in Amsterdam!

The one canal house to visit if you have time for only one. Many, many rooms, explained with excellent audio guide. The church on the top floor is a must-see, to help understand the history of Amsterdam. Only for those who can negotiate narrow, twisty...More

This is one of Amsterdam's lesser known museums but it was a real highlight of my trip to Amsterdam. It is almost like two museums in one. On the lower levels, you can see how Dutch people lived in centuries gone by. On the upper...More

Hi, the previous answers cover it - good recorded audio explanation in English. I needed some directions to locate the building - it's right down in the red-light end of the street. Have a great time!
