Neighbourhood: Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.

    Powerful
In my opinion, this should be on everyone’s to-do list while in Amsterdam. Even though we knew the story, it was chilling and surreal to actually walk through the space where Anne and her family lived while in hiding. The museum is a beautiful tribute to her life, narrated in an excellent audio tour. Note: the museum is not handicap accessible but the staff could not have been nicer or more helpful to our daughter who was on crutches at the time of our visit.

    A Must See In Amsterdam
I would never visit Amsterdam without returning to te Anne Frank House. For all the negative comments about there not being much there, just seeing the bookcase and the actual attic where they lived for two years-with everything original-is a good enough reason to visit. What more do people need????????? People seem to forget the real reason to visit. The museum built around the attic is simply there to provide background. The narrative before is very helpful as are the explanations after. Very moving and thought provoking. One can certainly see the terrible life the people endured-only to be taken away to the camps.

    A must-see in Amsterdam
A very interesting walk-through of the hardships and heartache during War Time. The museum was very well organised and the audio tour really depicted how difficult it was for Anne and her family. So hard to imagine those little children hiding in the attic, scared to move around or use the bathroom in fear of making any noise, sqeaking of floorboards and being discovered by the workers downstairs.

    A Sobering Experience. Must Visit.
This is a must visit while in Amsterdam. Let me start by saying you have to buy your tickets online weeks in advance, otherwise you will no be able to visit. No photos and videos are allowed once you get inside the actual museum, so soak it all in. Walking through the actual home and attic where the Frank family & others lived for two years really makes some emotional and provokes you to think. You get transported back in time via what you're seeing. Make sure to grab the free audio guide once you walk in the entrance, as it can translate to eight different languages, and provides context to the story as you walk through each room. Leave your coats and bags at the cloakroom, as the stairwells are really narrow. The museum is incredibly crowded from open to close, so prepare for long queues. But enjoy. Make sure to see the Anne Frank statue outside before you leave the grounds.

    A highlight of our trip
We booked our tickets a few weeks in advance and happened to go at the same time as our son is learning about world war 2 which has really helped with his studies. This is a must do when visiting Amsterdam. It’s really well planned out in the initial lobby area and shop afterwards. The audio tour of the actual house is so well done and there were so many times that I had tears in my eyes listening to the harrowing story of Anne and her family. Hard to believe this is the house I had read about in her diary. I will absolutely visit again on my next trip to Amsterdam.

    A must.
Like so many teenagers, I read Anne Frank’s diary when growing up and today - barely thirty minutes ago - finally stood in the room where she penned those timeless pages. A moving experience which defies any and all description. And yet, conversely, also just one of the millions we will sadly never hear. History which cannot be forgotten, can never be exaggerated and mustn’t be missed. Book ahead and go.

    A must see in Amsterdam
This museum shares Anne Frank’s story in a very personal way as per the wishes of her father who survived the war. Anne Frank house is a must-see for everyone who visits Amsterdam. Book tickets way in advance as it is always sold out.

    Must do
This experience was every bit as moving as expected. They did a great job in curating. It was so crowded that we were shuffling along in a long line. While there are lots of signs at the beginning of the tour to not take any photos, a woman kept doing so anyway. She was disrespectful and disruptive.

    Must Visit When in Amsterdam
If you are in Amsterdam, you should prioritize visiting the Anne Frank House. You must buy your tickets online in advance. I recommend booking them as soon as you know when you will be in the city. It is an incredibly emotional museum and you can feel the history as you walk through. It is fairly warm and tight in the building and there are stairs to climb. It is an important piece of history and everyone would benefit from visiting.

    Amsterdam trip highlight 🇳🇱
This tour was incredible - to have read Anne Frank’s diary and then be able to see where everything took place was just indescribable. We went in the evening around 6:30/7 and it wasn’t too busy, although I would still advise booking ahead as it does sell out. Something everyone should do in Amsterdam - lots of people visit for the obvious reasons, but this tour was a real highlight for me - especially seeing Anne’s own bedroom.

The woman who presented the introductory program was very knowledgeable and passionate. Several sets of steep steps to climb. Like audio headsets for exhibit.

The museum is very busy so you have to use your imagination to picture what the building was like when the Frank family were in hiding there. We paid extra for the programme before going around the museum - this was a waste of time: we learned nothing new and it was focused on the few children who were there at the same time.

Even though the museum is excellent, it could stand to have an update to the content inside. But even still, it is a must-do in Amsterdam. We secured our tickets weeks in advance, and with the East Coast time, we got up at 4 AM to log on and get our tickets. We visited in March, and so I’m not sure it was absolutely necessary for us to get up at 4 AM, but there is no way to know how high the demand will be. I’m sure in the summer it is an absolute necessity to get up in the middle of the night to get tickets.

...but a museum very well done and a must visit whilst in Amsterdam.
We pre booked tickets 6 weeks ahead of our planned visit (this is when tickets are released on the website). Very organised entry. Yes busy but it felt well spaced out and you had time to spend as you wanted. Excellent self audio tour. Go visit!

Super location to visit.. transportation was easy/affordable and I highly recommend using the trams and Trains for exploration of the country. We decided next time we go to Europe we are going to base in Amsterdam and use the train to visit the other countries nearby France 🇫🇷.. Paris is roughly a 4 hr trip.. Belgium 🇧🇪 Germany 🇩🇪..all are just hours away.. we felt safe and the "locals" were always friendly and helpful. Architecture was amazing combined w/ the historical experience of the area/region throughly enjoyed the city..which is saying alot for me..NOW the thing I WARN the most about is the BIKES.. God love 'em.. LOOK OUT for them..almost more so than the cars..head on a swivel and KNOW when your in the bike lane and GET OUT of it. Food!!.. although the Sweets were awesome.. waffles done anyway you can imagine ( check out the food markets ) didn't feel it was anything more than anywhere else.. nothing really stood out to me as a GREAT food of the Netherlands!. And with the exception of one fries store I'd take a Culver's fries 🍟 anyday!!..Overall we adored Amsterdam! Can't wait to get back

This museum/tour is very well done - the audio is just enough and not overwhelming. Very touching! Book in advance, it is sold out everyday.

We opted for the introductory talk before the actual tour of the house, which is good for anyone that needs a refresher on the story of this brave young woman,it last for approx 30 mins
There are clockrooms to off load any coats or large bags and audio handsets which are excellent to use especially for those with impaired sight as all they need to do is point at a square and all information is spoken for them, saves anyone else having to read it all out
People very respectful whilst looking round and seeing where the families spent 2 years in silence,it is a confined space and there are some steep stairs
Be advised you can only buy tickets direct from the Anne Frank website, they are released on Tuesday for a rolling 6 weeks ahead,so if you know you want to visit look for tickets 6 weeks before, tickets go very quickly

We’ve all read Anne Franks diaries & story, but to literally follow in her and her families footsteps brought it to life.

The original factory has been wonderfully restored and preserved in this interactive modern museum.

From initial booking, electronic tickets, to assistance on the day - all ran smoothly.

We were touched by the experience, and the realisation that these handful of people experienced what many hundreds and thousands and millions did across Europe.

This is a must see experience when visiting Amsterdam. We had a 30 minute introduction and the staff member we had was outstanding. It was really helpful to have a little bit of history before going through the house. It was emotional and the audio guide was great.
