The Rijksmuseum is a fantastic place to visit. We visited on a Saturday which appeared to be particularly busy. Allow yourself at least 3 hours to see all the exhibits.

We thought it was going to close later than we thought, there were no last entry signs. The ticket staff we approached didn't say anything about it closing in less than an hour - they could have informed us. So 20 minutes in we were...More

What an amazing museum. With 3 floors spanning a vast area and many centuries you could easily spend all day here. If you want to keep your visit shorter I'd suggest opting for a handset where you can pick different tours. I was there 4...More

A modern, spacious and very efficiently run museum, which we'd booked on line prior to our visit. The exhibits are as you would expect. A good way to spend a peaceful few hours.

After the renovation the Rijksmuseum is more "open" and light. The paintings are hanged in a way that you can come close to see them. The Rijksmuseum is definitely a place to visit not only for the famous "Nachtwacht" but for so many other paintings.

Amsterdam does not have the collections you will find in places like L'Orsay or Le Louvre in Paris, but this museum definitely has the market cornered on Dutch art. It is partly art museum and partly a history museum. The Rembrandts, alone, are worth the...More

Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part
of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh
Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed
museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you
need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the
Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark,
the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand
connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping

My advice is to buy ticket online for all museum before your arrival in Amsterdam to gain quick entry. Van Goah Musem has limit tickets each day so you may not be able to get the door ticket.
