About
Eurochocolate Festival is the largest and most assorted international Chocolate Exhibition in Europe. It is an annual festival and it takes place indoors each October at Umbriafiere (Bastia Umbra, 15 km from Perugia), the capital of the Umbria region (central Italy) The festival has been held since 1994 and has become now an unmissable appointment for all chocolate lovers. It lasts ten days and it offers more than 6,000 chocolate products presented by over 100 brands belonging to the top artisans or to the most important Italian and international confectionery companies. Eurochocolate offers a variety of free chocolate activities too, such as chocolate sculpting, tastings and cooking show. Eurochocolate has also a second appointment held in March at Perugia's Giardini del Frontone. It’s called Eurochocolate Spring and it is related to Easter and its delicacies, such as chocolate eggs.

We planned a trip to Perugia again after a beautiful experience from Eurochocolate 2018. The indoor edition was just a disorganized mess, when you came to Bastia where the Expo took place, you did not have a feeling European festival was around the corner. Nobody navigates us or lets us know where the "ChocoTrain" should depart. We did not have a car and wanted to use public transport. We paid 11€ per adult entrance fee (just to spend more money in the shops). There were so many shops in such a small place, you just wanted to cry and run away. Prices were behind my understanding...After 20 minutes of disappointment we went away trying to find the promised shuttle bus to Assisi (nobody from the staff knew about anything like that). There are small shops in Perugia where you can find chocolate, save your nerves and money and do not go to Umbria Fiere..

This is an annual festival that is a chocolate lover's dream. There is booth upon booth of chocolate creations - drinks, pastries and candy. Fun to see the different combinations of flavors.

Between 14-23 October center of Perugia smells of chocolate - white and dark, stuffed and decorated - all kind you can imagine.

It was a coincidence that we were in town during the Chocolate fest. We all love chocolate so it was fun for us. One day was enough. Lots of chocolate from all over Italy. I wouldn’t go there specifically for this fest but it was a nice surprise.

Nice to do for children the chocolate factory, quite expensive but fun: 75 euros for a family of 4

This fair has lost a lot over the years. You pay an entrance fee with which you are entitled to receive three chocolate gifts but of absolutely commercial quality. Three pavilions where there are few exhibitors who, despite having paid the ticket, allow you to have a tasting. Most of the exhibitors have highly commercial products found in large-scale retail trade and in food outlets.
The only interesting things are the entertainment offers for children. There aren't many but they allow a couple of hours of entertainment for the little ones.
And another positive note, the area dedicated to international chocolates. I found exhibitors from different parts of the world with very high quality products, willing to let us taste their chocolates. Well, at these stands I bought something truly remarkable. Too bad they are only a small part compared to the rest of the event.

I returned with friends because I really liked the one organized outdoors in March... it's a beautiful journey on the theme of cocoa and chocolate! plus many fun activities and also the journey from the cocoa plantation to the factory. the chocolate sculptures are exceptional! It's not true that entry is expensive, a free block of dark chocolate and lots of chocolates which in the end equal the amount spent for entry!

It has always been and is a beautiful event, even now with paid entry, and then they always give you free chocolate which is almost worth the ticket... You can really have an experience of cocoa and chocolate: how a bar is made from the seed of cocoa, but also cooking shows of the most important pastry chefs in Italy who make their recipes live, and the whole area of chocolate from around the world: I stocked up on this type of chocolate!

Real rip-off, no exhibition and entertainment options, fair only to buy chocolate at doubled prices, the stands don't even want you to taste the products they sell at tripled prices

Sorry...it's no longer the classic chocolate fair of years ago. You pay the ticket to buy chocolate that you would also buy close to home! They don't let you taste anything... the refreshment points are stocked with spoiled food... just business and that's it!
