When you get to the top it is very narrow and they only let a limited number of people up at any one time. The steps are narrow and very steep. Not for young children.

Here's a little timeline of my experience. 1. Bought tickets: small queue 2. Queued for tower (outside building): 40 minutes 3. Led indoors at last! 4. Oh wait there's another long queue in here: 30 minutes 5. Up the tower at last, amazingly good views...More

Siena has two main viewing towers - the Torre del Mangia and the Facciatone (part of the Cathedral). Sadly the former was sold out so we chose this option instead. It's actually included in the basic Siena Cathedral ticket, which gives entry to various attractions....More

It is a reminder that the cathedral in Siena was supposed to be huge, from what I remember one of the largest in Europe, but these plans were punctured by the plague epidemic. A place worth visiting.

Making our way through the museum, counting the steps, we arrived at a tiny circular staircase - one way up and the same way down so wait if you hear somebody already on it. Fabulous views in all directions of Siena and the countryside surrounding...More

The main cathederal is too beautiful to compare. Tjis addition adds to the wonder. Take time and walk to the top for a unforgetablke view of Siena.

Plan your time for a short wait. Then take the nary stair climb to the top. Once at the top go out to the end of the Facciatone for some wonder views of Siena. You get wonderful views of the Duomo another turn you see...More

Great view, but lots of stairs, very nary narrow winding stairs, I should say. I don't usually do this kind of thing, since I am old, but I thought it was a shorter climb than it turned out to be, but a real pleasure at...More

For me there's always something special about seeing a town from a great height. The Facciatone is inside the Cathedral museum (so €7 entrance fee, or part of the €13 Cathedral-complex cumulative ticket). Go to the top floor and wait for a short while until...More
