We had a lovely young woman give us a nice talk about the Synagogue - current operation and history. They are very small - limited hours/days for tours but I believe they can schedule if needed. More modest of course than the Synagogues in Florence...More

This present synagogue designed by Zanobi del Rosso in 1786 has an unobtrusive exterior, quite plain, and is unnoticeable/ unremarkable.....But inside is an exquisitely painted and decorated synagogue with beautiful bible verses illuminated in carved gold letters with deep blue backgrounds. The double height walls...More

It was so interesting seeing this small but lovely synagogue. It's locked, with a hand written sign posted as to when it will open for the next tour. If you come to the door at that time you can get in. When we went there...More

The Synagogue of Siena has a very modest-looking facade to compare with other synagogues in Italy. In fact it's just a plain building. If not for two marble plaques at the door commemorating Siena's holocaust victims it could be easily missed. We were there on...More

The building is only open on certain days and times. When we were there only one person was working so se had to wait about 15 minutes for the next scheduled tour. Anna was friendly and very personable, friendly and knowledgeable. Well worth the stop.

We happened to see a small designation on the map, otherwise I would have not known there was a synagogue in Siena. It is right off the Campo, and easy to follow signs direct you to it. Check the dates because it is not open...More

There is a guide, you will get a lot from listening to her. Special place, like the other synagogues is takes you to the past.
