Historic square full of shops, histry and people. We were there during preparations for the Palio to commemorate end of WW1 ...the place was buzzing with all the horse & rider selections and daily trial runs. So much passion for this historic (and very short)...More

I've only seen the Campo in photos full of people during the Palio. Was I ever surprised to see that it isn't flat. It sinks in the center and is higher on one side. If you're in Siena...it is a must visit!

Even though this is loaded with history, it really is a huge crowded tourist mecca with the usual shops and cafes. Really just OK

We were blessed with good weather and this was a very nice spot to stand and take in some of the buildings around Sienna. Very reminisant of St Mark's Square in Venice just far less crowed!

I've never been there for the Palio, but you can imagine it. A beautiful space and leads you to the Palazzo Publicco.

My first time visit to Siena. I've heard so much about this place. Also saw lot of pictures. Couldn't believe I was actually standing here, soaking it all in. A must see.

On arrival, 16th October, we were aware of something being prepared as staging was being erected all around the square. It turned out an extra Palio was being run to celebrate the 100 years since the end od WW1. Much local activity was also evident...More

Hi, we had a rented vehicle while in Tuscany as it was easier to get around so I honestly don't know. I'm sorry!
