We stayed just outside of the city walls. Parking and getting your luggage to one of the hotels in the city wall would be so hard. This is high on a hill and many roads inside the city walls are steep. But the views of...More

The historic centre was fantastic. We really enjoyed the walled city. You must go up the tower despite the many steps it was well worth it for the amazing view. We also did the opera. The restaurants were generaly very good.

San Gimignano is a perfectly preserved medieval town. It has more towers than anywhere I have ever been. The shops and galleries include some international quality at international prices. You can get what my wife believes to be the worlds best ice cream too. That...More

Not to be missed but gets very crowded Worth staying overnight as most tourists are day trippers and the town is more pleasurable early morning or late evening.

On our 12 hour fantastic Tuscany tour our bus stopped here for a short walk around and a fantastic gelato. It helped that our tour guide, Lavinia, lived here.

When I stepped at the door of this village I immediately fell in love. The cute tiny shops, the alleys, the ice cream. It was a trip to the past.

Another great little town with character and charm. Shops, restaurants, and history all found here! The drive in & out of town is delightful as well!

Amazing medieval city you can’t miss. I love to sit at the big square and watch the people. The city is full of tourists;)

A dream come true! Love just walking around admiring the buildings, flowers, shops and churches. Go early for parking. Hope you don’t have to visit during the heat of summer and the crowds of tourists. The shops are great, you can find all types of...More

If you’re staying for a week or so I’d recommend staying in one of the many converted farmhouses with pools in one of the countryside locations which are about a 15-20 minute drive from Florence, Siena and san gimignano. Try... More

To san Gimignano there is no train station, it only can be reached by bus. If you come through florence you have to take a bus or train to Poggibonsi and take another bus to san gamignano. Its a 90min ride
