We've visited San Gimignano twice on our last trip to Italy. Tuscany for many reasons is one of our favorite places in Italy. The view surrounding the town is tranquil and beautiful. A leisurely afternoon can be spent wandering the streets of San Gimignano enjoying...More

We rented a car to drive arround Tuscany. San Giminano was a main destination and worth going. Very touristic, loads of small shops and cafes. You can find more relaxed towns with similar atmosphere (e.g. Certaldo), but still, SG is absolutely worth visiting.

We left the car in a paid parking and walked through the town. The architecture of the buildings is very nice and there are indicators everywhere, so you won't get lost. A lot of places to buy souvenirs, eat and drink. I highly recommend it,...More

We spent 2 days just visiting the shopping area. Even took the tour to the top of the tower. A very special town in all of Italy.

A lovely quaint place. Lots of restaurants. Amazing gelato and some great clothing stores. Unfortunately it was schooltrip time so the square was full of very noisy kids.

San Gimignano is a charming but crowded old town full of interesting buildings and delightful views over the surrounding countryside. Make sure you arrive early to get best parking especially at the weekend

The medieval towers still loom large above it all in San Gimignano. Several hundred years after their construction this is still a very awesome scenery and a must see attraction for any visit to Tuscany

Visiting this place will take you immediately back to the 15th century. The balance of medieval buildings, with modern shops on the ground floors couldn't be in better harmony. There are some really nice restaurants as well. Also great views of Tuscany. We visited at...More

Aside from the marvelous gelato, we also bought saffron, wine, limoncello, and lavender in this lovely walled town. This is a very charming area and we enjoyed just being in the center, people watching and eating our amazing gelato. What a find!

You have to love this place, although there can be quite a large number of tourists and school children passing through. Never mind. Enjoy the moment - a 14th century town, preserved, lived in and thriving. Spend 1/2 day here.

To san Gimignano there is no train station, it only can be reached by bus. If you come through florence you have to take a bus or train to Poggibonsi and take another bus to san gamignano. Its a 90min ride

I hope it's not too late to answer your question. The best thing you can do is to take the train all the way to a little town called Pogibonsi. The train does not stop in San Gimignano. So, take a bus from Pogibonsi to San... More
