Climbing the Torre Grosso is one of those “must do” activities in San Gimignano. I was worried about the climb, however earlier comment by others thankfully convinced me to climb the 254 steps to the top. The stairs are good, evenly spaced with a number...More

Climbing the torre grosso is worth every step, plus as you go up the project a film of the history of the tower. The views from the top are great. You appreciate the town better after seeing it from the top

Well worth the climb! I recommend the audio guide which added to the experience. The attached museo was also interesting.

Take a walk through this medieval town and take in history while spending time walking through the shops.

The stroy of this beautiful place is very Italian: rival families with competing efforts of building the highest tower - proving that the richest has the largest in the town... funny and also touching tale of medieval people. Beyond the stones and temples, you can...More

When in San Gimignano, and you are fit to climb stairs, the rewarding view at the top is fabulous. Especially on a beautiful sunny day. If it’s clear visibility, you can see for miles. It is a panoramic view. Best photo op in town.

Well you can't visit san gimignano without climbing the tower. Two possible tickets, one cheaper giving acces to tower and two other monuments, one 3 euro more roughly giving acces to two more visits. The tower is awesome. Gives you a grand view in all...More

Great view to get your bearings and look down on the other poor cousin towers of the city. Excellent and cunning AV display on the way up and the climb quite straightforward until the very last ladder to the top

The towers of San Gimignano can be sen from miles away and are as impressive from a distance as up close and personal. A great city with something for everybody.
