Visiting the Church of Sant’Agostino was splendid portion of San Gimignano. It is a smaller Cathedral/ larger Church that is a true Historic Church and not as much of a tourist spot.

and simple cloisters. Lovely frescoes of St Augustine, lifesize on the walls. Must visit! Exterior does not do justice to what you see when inside.

Be sure to walk RESPECTFULLY behind the altar to see the life of St. Augustine in 15th-century Frescoes by Benozzo.

This church was built between 1280 - 1298. In a Romanesque - gothic style. It is beautifully adorned with frescoes illustrating the life of s. Augustine. Remains of 13 th century frescoes & paintings by various other artists also adorn the walls.

This is a 13th century church which is particularly known for the frescoes by Gozzoli depicting life of St Augustine. The frescoes are located behind main altar. Gozzoli has other frescoes located throughout church. Worth a visit.....

This large church has wall paintings of outstanding quality and for 50cents you can illuminate the best behind the altar. Every one had good explanations in English. Photography is allowed. Church open until early evening.

Often overlooked in San Gimignano due to the proximity of the Duomo, the Church of Sant'Agostino is (while fairly plain on the exterior) gorgeous inside. Well-preserved frescoes that are almost 1000 years old cover the walls, and there are also a couple of side altars...More
