This church is not the main church, but IMHO it's more interesting than the cathedral! The paintings are very interesting and show, on a much smaller scale than Uffizi, how local artists matured from the one-dimensional medieval work to the more sophisticated Renaissance stuff.

This church when we visited was quiet and it was great walking around and also the cloister area. Interesting artworks and well worth a visit when in San Gimignano

This very old church is well worth seeing. It is full of paintings some of which go back to the fourteenth century. Don’t miss it

WHen you approach the church you wouldn't think what awaits you inside. The whole ghurch is full with vibrant frescos, just wonderful.

Compared to some of the other churches around Italy, this one is so relaxed and the queues are not a problem. AND, it is one of the best inside! Every surface is covered in vibrant, colourful frescos - even the roof! Don't miss it.

Visiting the Church of Sant’Agostino was splendid portion of San Gimignano. It is a smaller Cathedral/ larger Church that is a true Historic Church and not as much of a tourist spot.

and simple cloisters. Lovely frescoes of St Augustine, lifesize on the walls. Must visit! Exterior does not do justice to what you see when inside.

Be sure to walk RESPECTFULLY behind the altar to see the life of St. Augustine in 15th-century Frescoes by Benozzo.

Passing through the town we stopped at this Augustinian Church. There are many beautiful paintings and frescos. Be sure to see the ones behind the altar. They are a fantastic depiction of the life of St. Augustine. There are American Augustinian Friars there so English...More
