I walked up a few towers in Italy, in Florence, Sienna, and Lucca. Torre Grossa in San Gimi was definitely the best one. The town is beautiful and surrounded by the most amazing countryside. If you do one tower in Tuscany, do this one. It...More

This is a must do in San Gimignano! I was incredibly fatigued by the time I saw those stairs but it was so worth it in the end. This is the best way to see the entire town and get spectacular views of the Tuscan...More

The steps curl up around the inside of this tower and as I get a touch of vertigo I was a bit apprehensive about going up but I managed it and it was well worth it. Great views all around.

Not as strenuous on the old knees as some companies and towers in Italy, but the views are every bit as good Florence or Siena, with miles of Tuscan countryside stretched out before you. It's quite simply awe inspiring!

Well worth doing the climb to the top. Some great panoramic views over the countryside. Wear decent shoes and don't overload yourself with unnecessary equipment for the tower.

Well everything is relative isn't it. If you visit the most beautiful village in Tuscany (yes, the locals do refer to San G as a village!) it ain't going to be cheap is it. Local wine at Torre Grossa 12 Euro, over 20 Euro in...More

We climbed the tower which was hard work but well worth it. Great views over the rooftops and across the countryside. Make sure you have your camera handy. Recommended

The climb will make you sweat and especially the last stairs are not for the faint hearted, but the pay off is a fantastic view of San Gimignano. It is by far the highest view poin of the town, and you can see very far....More

Relatively easy climb to the top apart from the last leg ladder to the belfry but oh, what a view. Look down on the other towers and enjoy the AV display on the way up. Do not miss the Pinoteca and it's frescos which tells...More
