Italy is , of course, full of beautiful churches but if in Lucca this is one worth a visit. The interior is vast and beautiful and there are a number of interesting works of art adorning it. Not oo packed when we were there.

Gabriel took us round his home town, very knowledgeable. Cathedral was under restoration for the marble exterior. Majestic and awe-inspiring building. The ex-Roman amphitheatre is another 'must see' with its shops and bars

The atmosphere, age, history and beauty of this building makes it one you should not miss. We visited 4 cathedrals whilst in Tuscany and this one ranked with the best. Can't remember the cost, though I don't think it was expensive at all. May have...More

It desrves an attentive visit, the inside is unusual and has many works of art which may easily be overlooked, and many are really special

We enjoyed a four day trip to Lucca (one of them spent in Pisa) and ensured we visited Lucca's Duomo. The only reason I rate this building as 'average' is because it is one of many buildings in Lucca and several others are more ornate...More

Another gorgeous duomo which we had hoped we could climb to the top for a view over all of Lucca but it was closed which was disappointing.

Another masterpiece of architecture of the century. Imagine the work of marble ! How many years the builder and artist has invested to give such a masterpiece of work. The Duomo is a must to visit!

You have to see the Cathedral, and take time to have a good look at the Volto Santo housed in its own little temple inside the church. Unfortunately the west entrance was undergoing repairs, but tit is still open and a three star attraction in...More
