We were in Lucca and I had heard of the aqueduct so wanted to have a look. It is situated to the rear of the train station in Lucca. Built in the mid 1800s ( I think), it is certainly an impressive structure of some...More

Best tackled in the morning when you can make use of the shade, this remarkable piece of engineering is well worth exploring. You have to be prepared to lug the bike up some steps over the dual carriage way, but the rest is fairly straightforward....More

A great diversion from the non-stop food-fest that a trip to Lucca can quickly become. We started at the cistern end and walked the length. A very nice walk with several EXCELLENT water sources along the way - locals were filling baskets on one-liter bottles...More

An amazing piece of architecture, just a short walk from Lucca. You can also get a great photo from the top of the tower.

I would recommend if you are going to head to this place, be sure to drop into the tourist information centre beforehand so they can arm you with a map and give you precise directions to it. We got lost en-route and couldn't find it!!

Short walk from Lucca. Very interesting historically and the fact it runs to Pisa 7.5 hours walk away.

10 minutes walk outside the walls of Lucca. An early 1800 construction that provided the city with fresh waters from the mountins far away. The tower is closed but....a very thrilling and fascinating place with a wonderful view on top after climbing the dangerous stairs...More

We headed out on foot on too hot a fall day and while I was impressed with the aqueduct, I think we would have persevered if it was a cooler day or we were on our bikes. We didn't get far enough to marvel at...More

Yes. Ride through the streets of Lucca until you reach the aqueduct, then take the path running along it. There is one large road to cross - which has a bridge. You may need to carry bikes over the bridge. When you reach... More
