The rather austere exterior belies the interior beauty of this church. Did a tour with a local specialist guiding a Holland America tour. Guide didn't go into the church, but I go into churches and was blown away by the interior. I did not see...More

This is fairly central in the walled city. The church is beautiful and cost a few euros. There are a lot if shops and restaurants and Gelato stores. This is a good home base to meet

We stayed nearby San Michele & to be frank, were a bit over churches at this stage on our trip. We did pop inside on our last morning and I actually really enjoyed the cool elegance of the interior. After seeing so many astounding church...More

Popped in whilst passing, was just ok did not seem to be anything special. Be careful of the uneven flooring.

It is huge, in the main square, the main facade is a complex Pisanese Style with The San Michelev almost lost on the top, yet the top different levels are veery interesting, mainly if you later see them close at the main museum.

The church is built on the site of the original Roman forum. We didn't go inside the church but to be honest, we enjoyed looking at the remarkable façade and bell tower. Beautiful and a must-see in Lucca.

A nice, quiet, cool place to get out of the heat and enjoy the beautiful sanctuary. Simple decorations compared to many other churches. Little traffic so you could actually spend some time praying.

Beautiful building and very interesting facade. Surrounded by cute bars, cafes to sit outside and admire.

Walked into the church on a cool rainy day, which meant is was also cool in the church. Beautiful interior, paintings, tall ceilings, marble floors. And the outside architecture is highly detailed. This is a church a town could be proud of. Wonderful religious history!

I love this church, the facade is so beautiful, fully decorated and with many differing styles of columns and other decorative motifs, yet the body of the church seems practically naked, almost as though they had run out of steam or money or ...both, very...More
