Remaining intact walls of Italian pre-Kingdom. Intact. No compassion can be found in the whole Italy. Must visit and experience. Mura Urbane, 4200-meter long, curtain of the Wall 12-meter high, 30-meter thick, 11 bastions. Full of history, beckoning of exploration on foot or bike.

If you only do one thing in Lucca, it must be to walk or bicycle around the entire circuit of the walls. This extraordinary 16th/17th construction was converted to a public park in the reign of Principessa Elisa, Napoleon's sister. It gives wonderful views of...More

Beautiful to walk around the old city walls. But there is now also a parkrun every Saturday morning at 9.00, run by an enthusiastic and very friendly volunteer team, for the more energetically minded.

This a place to stroll around the wall city, sit and watch the cyclists, walkers and joggers; have a picnic or read a book. Relaxing any time of day in good weather.

What a lovely city, and the daily walks on the Wall were a great way to find and explore the city overall...taking different exits to different areas of the xity, to find new places to explore, to locate pieces of historical buildings and sights, to...More

We took a leisurely Autumn stroll along these wide walls, amid joggers, cyclists and other tourists, it was glorious! Pausing for a coffee, overlooking the cathedral, and then lunch nearby, before completing the scenic circuit of just over 4km.

At least 2 bike hire places located close to the entry/exit points of the wall. Easy to spot in such a small town.
