One of the most amazing views of Florence and possibly in Europe. That's the only good thing about it. The view is from a car park with hundreds of tourists all trying to get the same photo. The replica statue of David is very good...More
View of the city. Nice open space, food at restaurant above area and another on a lower tier. Only detractor are the large amount of street vendors and other sketchy looking guys hovering around.
Must do as you leave town.
In the 7 o’clock in the morning I walked from the hotel near the Firenze train station to the top. It takes 32 minutes one way. So it’s a good exercise for adults who lack of work outs during travelling.
At the top you can...More
Great place to visit to get some panoramic shots of Florence. Lovely drive through the hillside mansions and high end hotels to get there. One restaurant/cafe there and the usual cheap souvenir stalls - not much else.
Stopped off here via the hop on hop off city bus sightseeing tour & I’m so glad we did! Fair enough, there isn’t much around apart from the view and some touristy stalls...but what an incredible view! I went early evening as it was a...More
Just outside the ancient walls of Florence, Viale Michelangiolo starts. It is a winding road rimmed by wonderful poplars and holm oaks. The long ascent opens up to the most beautiful and famous panoramic viewpoint of Florence: Piazzale Michelangelo, where an elevated terrace offers visitors an incomparable and breathtaking view of the entire city from above. During good weather, Piazzale Michelangelo provides
visitors with a serene space surrounded by the amazing landscape, better if accompanied by a fresh gelato from a local kiosk. During night, visitors will be dazzled by the warm lights of the capital of the Renaissance. Spend a second with the silent Romanesque beauty of the Basilica of San Miniato al Monte: the one that wishes good morning and good night to Florence!
Yes can sit outside and drink wines.
trouble always finds its way around but just be aware!
walked nearly everywhere. from the bridge to top of the piazza about 30-45mins.
I hope you enjoy it all in firenza.

I took a golf cart tour service called Verde Oliva. It lasted about 90 to 120 minutes and we got to see the main attractions all over Florence. One of them was Piazzale MIchelangelo. The driver knew the best spot for pictures and was a great paparazzi too. I would ask them to finish the tour up there, bring a bottle of wine, cups and some treats. Watch the sunset up there, then walk down to town (it only takes 20 minutes and it is a beautiful walk).
