Beautiful spot in Cortona. Cortona is a perfect town in Italy for a vacation short or long. It is a perfect location for day trips to other towns and cities. It is vibrant with good restaurants and shops.

Cortona Cathedral, dedicated to the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, was built at the remains of the ancient Roman temple in the 11th century. Little is left of its original Romanesque character, because of the several renovations and refurbishments. Although most of its treasures...More

Enjoy the ride to the top, a town somewhat isolated. The families live here forever. Our local guide’s relative painted the ceiling of the Cathedral. They basically worship St. Margaret most of all. The interior of the Cathedral is a usual beautiful sanctuary.

Very serene and stunning. The blue roof with the stars and the stripped walls are in great contrast to the incredible artwork and alters. Very special

We have enjoyed visiting Cortona for the past 16 years based on the book Under the Tuscan which inspired us to visit this city. Their Duomo is small but beautiful inside and very well preserved. Lots of light for taking pictures. Highly recommend visiting when...More

We dropped by when a wedding was in progress, and it was worth waiting to see the families emerge from the church. The duomo has a subdued, but elegant interior. The view of the valley from the forecourt is beautiful.

This is not about the Duomo, but the town of Cortona. It is very charming and worth a visit. You can wander and enjoy all the views and take in the shops and the restaurants. I had expected it it be a little "Disneyland-like" but...More

The day we visited, there was a wedding of people from Philadelphia under way. So, foreigners are allowed to have their ceremony there. I do not know how to arrange it, but you could try googling a question or send an e-mail... More
