Cortona can be very crowded during the season. Parking outside the city can be limited,go early or later. Excellent shopping and restaurants ,delightfull narrow streets a photographers paradise.

Very shady at mid day. Lots of benches and bins. Nice vista with the plain spread out below you. There's some car parking if you can't walk up the hill

Great piazza for photo op shots but go to Della Reppublica if you want a great place to sit and people watch and have fun activities.

We walked through during the day and it wasn't very crowded but at night.....just hopping with activity. Kiosks were set up with varying merchandise, actors in medieval costumes were displaying their craft and then.... soccer! Seemed the whole town turned out and tvs were everywhere....More

Grab a Gelato and sit on the bench in the sun. The Piazza is alive with locals and tourists coming and going in all directions, it makes for a relaxing 10 min or so.
