The second to last shop of the market street, which sells hams, cheeses and the like, also sells very good sandwiches filled with dried cherry tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, salad etc. (yummie). Also try the delicacies at the other market stalls (almond cookies, fresh mulberries ...).

Shops are filled with fresh products. The shops close about 14:00 hour so it is better to be there in the morning. The best for us were restaurants with fish and sicilian food. It was really wonderfull food.

I very much enjoyed strolling through the markets of Siracusa located on the island of Ortigia. The market consists a wide variety of vendors, but, I particularly enjoyed the food vendors selling fresh fruits, fish, spices, etc. It made me wish that I had rented...More

The market is busy in the morning with locals shopping for fish, meat, poultry, fruits, spices, veggies, etc. There are few tourists in the off-season - especially when we were here - January 2018. So, it was enjoyable to stroll through the market which is...More

The market is really nice, lovely products and gnammy food Due to the high amount of turists walking by, I have noticed some sellers get advantage of the less careful buyers and try to make a little extra profit by "cheating" sort to speak... Do...More

We actually stayed next to this street and even though the early start of the vendors can be a little frustrating once you go outside you appreciate the experience. So many vendors with so much choice. I don't think I have ever seen fruit as...More

It was interesting walking through the Mercato to see what all the vendors were selling. Clothing, food, spices. Hats are a big draw here. A number of stalls just selling hats and you really need one in Sicily. The fresh fish being cut. Also, some...More

The old market which it has felt going to life. Also it can buy fresh vegetable, fruit, meat or fish, also it can try fried sea food or anti-pasti.

A nice little market with fresh fruit and veg, dried spices, local almond biscuits, a great fish market and some small restaurants. One stand in particular was nice, an oyster and glass of wine for €2.50. The freshest and most amazing tasting oysters I've ever...More

I do not recall any jewellery on sale in the markets in Ortigia. There are a few high-end shops on the Corso. A visit to Syracuse is a very good idea. There is great architecture in Ortigia; the Duomo, for example. And... More
