This is the place for historians, art-lovers, and photographers. We easily spent two hours exploring the castle and soaking in its offerings, which included a variety of paintings, sketches, coins, pottery, sculptures, and ancient spinning wheels and rope braiders. At one point, a friendly docent...More

Allow a couple of hours to scratch the surface of this extensive display of architecture, art and history. A great audio tour leads you through numerous rooms and reveals extensive detail.

A lot of paintings (many from 15th, 16th century if I remember correctly) many on religious themes. There is an audio guide which explains about the most significant pieces. Also a coin collection. Inside nothing of the old castle is on view.

The castle is quite uninviting from the outside but it is worth trying as it houses an interesting collection of mainly local art from the antiquity to modernity. We were especially lucky to see a temporary exhibition which included the works of Giotto and a...More

Inside this medieval museum there is a huge art gallery with exhibits from all the eras, with lots of Italian painters. It is a good place to visit during your stay in Catania.

Enjoyed this trip to the castle but it was more an art exhibition than a historic experience. The castle is well preserved and good to view . The exhibition cost 12euros each and has an English audio guide. Very good exhibition covering a history of...More
