I loved this church for its simplicity. Not as many art items and painting as others but so clean and simple. Large interior but church is empty which gives it a strange feeling. Next door to the monastery.

Huge church in the area where a lot of ancient buildings were sitting. Beyond that, nothing impressive, to be honest, in terms of decorations. There is possibility to take a tour for panoramic view at 3 euros.

At least as big as the catholic cathedral on Piazza Duomo, the Chiesa di San Nicolo All’Arena is huge. There’s no charge to enter and wander around. Yet the entire church is empty, which gives it a rather unhomely feel to it. The walls and...More

Very simple church not much to look at here nothing grand to it at all however it’s worth the 3 euros to climb the stairs and get great views over Catania one of the only places I think you can do.

One of the largest churches I have ever seen. The space is gorgeous and quiet. There is meridian on the floor. Entrance is free; it is possible to ascend the observation spot, which is charged.

Lovely monastery now a university. You can walk round the outside and inner cloisters for free. Of note you can see a wall of rock where the lava flow of Etna was diverted in 1669 well worth a look. Lovely architecture and a Roman house...More

We visited the church, library and monastery (now part of the University). The church is one of the largest in Sicily and painted white, so very bright and uplifting. The cloisters and garden were open to walk round. Very sympathetically restored, you could see the...More
