The views were amazing! It started snowing at the very last minute, so our guide had more time to tell us about the geographical history of how Mt Etna was formed and affects Sicily today. After keeping an eye on the weather, we were cleared to begin the hike. We weren't expecting snow, but it made the adventure more exciting. Towards the end of the hike, we couldn't walk around the rim of the last crater due to wind and sleet, but I don't feel cheated by the experience at all. Our guide spoke very good English and he set a challenging, but comfortable pace, adapting as needed for the various needs of our group.
