This was a multi-gen family trip including myself, parents, aunt and cousin… ages ranged from 30-78. It was a great experience for us to all spend together because of how organized and accommodating they were. Carmelo, the owner magically appeared or responded to requests whenever you needed something, as well as Eliana our guide for the week. The cooking classes were just the right amount of participation and learning from the chefs and Nonas. The food we cooked or were served or we ate out during organized dinners allowed us to try a wide of local dishes. I never felt like we had anything twice and we truly had authenticity with every meal. The excursions were great also, giving us a taste of the area plus the local artisans. The goat cheese farm and lunch were my favorite. The hotel was perfect, and located centrally so we could experience the town easily. Even on our one free evening, we were given a great recommendation that was not touristy. And on our free afternoon we were set up with a taxi and beach rentals so we could check out the local beach. In sum, Carmelo, Eliana and the other staff made us feel like part of their family from day 1, and I think thats what made it special. I would recommend this to anyone traveling with family, friends or solo.

I have returned from a wonderful adventure !!
From the enthusiastic greeting we received upon arrival to the heartfelt departure, the entire experience was beyond expectation. The property and location were perfect and tours just right
As a longtime celiac l advised Alberto when I registered. He assured me I would be taken care of. That was an understatement as they made substitutions so I was able to cook and eat every recipe. They went above and beyond!!
I highly recommend this wonderful experience don’t have any reservations
The staff treat you like family and are so helpful. Stefano is the best

I attended this cooking school with friends and relations. It was a family run operation and we became part of the extended family. There were daily cooking demos which were hands on as well as daily excursions, but we still had free time to explore the beautiful city of Modica and do a bit of shopping.

The recipes were not difficult or intimidating and I think they will be easy to replicate once back home.

I would highly recommend this even for a solo traveler. I admit our group of 9 was very congenial, but the atmosphere is such that a disparate group could easily become fast friends bonding over good food, good wine, and excellent hosts.

Simply amazing! We were shown how to prepare simple but delicious Italian meals….no food processors or pasta machines used here in pasta making. It was the perfect mix of cooking lessons, sightseeing in the late afternoon/evening and leisure time. The villa was incredible with a beautifully renovated main house, a fabulous pool and gardens. Nothing was too much trouble for Carmelo, our host. The small group of 10 people was just the right size to get to know everyone. Perfect for solo travellers or couples.

I give WhereinSicily a 100+ Star review. Both Alberto and Carmelo are excellent hosts. Alberto's communication during the booking process was stellar. The chefs were amazing & very qualified to teach. Carmelo's charm and attention to detail while hosting the group, really shows his passion for his role as the host guiding us as we learned to cook the wonderful Sicilian food & toured the various cities near Modica. Each day topped the previous day with the quality of the presentations, the food, and the tours.

FUN IN MODICA.  What a fantastic vacation and culinary experience we had with “WHERE IN SICILY in Modica, a beautiful Baroque town.  The “we” being myself, my husband, my daughter, sister and niece.

Carmello, an owner and host, and our tour guide and cooking interpreter, Eliana, were charming, gracious and so helpful whenever help was needed.  The small hotel was lovely, comfortable,d modern and air conditioned with a beautiful top floor terrace overlooking the city where we relaxed or ate a meal.  The cooking classes took place a few steps from the hotel in an open, airy cave, carved out of the hillside.  Our instructors were 2 restaurant chefs and 2 “mammas”.   Are classes were very organized and lots of fun, and ended in a lovely meal.
Of course, the food was authentic and delicious.

By the end of our week stay we all felt likea part of the “Where in Sicily” family.

The most amazing experience! A beautiful boutique hotel. Diletta and Carmelo were the best hosts anyone could ask for. Love them! The cooking lessons were so authentic both by the professionals and the beautiful moms.
We visited the beach, a goat farm where we enjoyed a delicious lunch outdoors, a winery, a chocolate factory, and a mini train ride through the city. There was so much to see and everything was well planned. We were treated like VIPs whatever we did. I would do this experience again in a heartbeat. I have new friends that I enjoyed every minute with. I can’t say enough about this experience and about the beauty of Sicily

The cooking lessons on our tour were wonderful - personalized instruction in a small group with delicious results (and Prosecco!). And there's so much more: trips to nearby towns and to a vineyard and farm, dining in restaurants, and late nights on the beautiful terrace. Modica is a stunning town. The week is well paced and time is allowed for individual exploration. There are no hidden costs. I recommend WhereinSicily without reservation to anyone who loves cooking, good food, wine, history, and good company.

Everything about this week was fabulous. The entire staff was so welcoming, professional, warm, and thoughtful. Every detail of my stay was done for my comfort and enjoyment. We were truly made to feel like members of their family. The Boutique hotel in Modica has a rooftop terrace which gave us great nighttime views of the cathedral across the street. The five morning cooking classes were so much fun, our chefs were delightful and knowledgeable, and the food was delicious. We also dined in restaurants where the locals eat, and the food was delicious. Carmelo, one of the owners, joined us at lunch and dinner on multiple occasions, and our guide for the week, Diletta, was exceptionally wonderful.
The tours to a wide variety of well known Sicilian towns were magical, and we were able to experience some of them at night. Wine tasting, and the cheese farm were highlights of the trip as well. It was truly a wonderful week.

Just returned from a week in Sicily with 'whereinsicily', staying in Modica, having had the most amazing time. I went with three friends, and joined 7 others, including 3 couples from the USA. The group was brilliant fun, so much laughter!! Having had a lovely breakfast, we met to cook with experienced chefs and also 'moms' who had been cooking in their own Sicilian kitchens for many years, all of whom where so generous in their sharing of their culinery skills, much of which has been passed down through the generations. Once we had cooked, we would all sit together to eat and enjoy a well earned glass of wine ( or a few!!) . The food was wonderful, and even better when shared with the new friends we had made. Our Host Carmelo is excellent and joined by our lovely Stefano, who was our mentor and guide, both brilliant and did everything possible to make our stay perfect. In the afternoon we were taken out to different experiences, including a goat farm, where they specialised in artisan goat cheese of many types- which were exquisite, plus they made their own olive oil, the best i have ever tasted.
In the evening we would either eat on the lovely terrace at the hotel, with food prepared by the team, or taken to a local restaurant where we experienced the local cuisine.
All in all, a memorable experience, which i can totally recommend- and i look forward to joining the team again one day.
Definately a trip you can do solo or with a group of friends!
Thank you Team, a not to be forgotton soon experience xxx
Missing you all today
