Narrow streets with even narrower, or non-existent pavements. Drivers mostly aware/forgiving of pedestrians. The "centre" is divided into several distinct areas; Maritime, Castello, Villanova and Stampace. The Maritime area is nearest the port and has most of the restaurants. The gradient of the streets increases...More

We found nothing interesting in the historic areas of Cagliari. A big disappointment after reading the reviews here. Yes, shopping, yes older buildings, yes some monuments. No, nothing really picturesque or worth a trip, compared to so many other small and large towns in Italy.

As the capital city of one of the most interesting islands in the Mediterranean Cagliari charmes with original views, tastes and scents you simply must try.

We love the old cities, with their narrow streets and diverse architecture. This is one of the best because it has so much elevation change. Wonder around, find a piazza, sit down for a beverage or lunch. You have to keep reminding yourself, “people actually...More

Cagliari city centre is beautiful. Lots of beautiful colourful buildings. Don’t forget to look up at the architectural details as it is absolutely stunning. Lots of graffiti but very clean and people are very friendly.

This is a great old town spanning from the water to the castle on the hilltop, containing a variety of buildings erected over dozen centuries which fit well together. Excellent for 2-4 h walking.

We just passed through this area after visiting the cathedral and the tower. If you have a guide they can tell you more about the Old town and the new one. But remember you have to take a lot of steps during this trip. There...More

The old center of the city (understood as the upper part of the town) is nice but not breathtaking. Surely, there are some attractions like old towers, cathedral or bastione di Saint Remy but overall it lacks some ambience. What is good is that it's...More

Arcaded streets contain a variety of shops and restaurants that are overlooked by the old city walls. Some excellent museums. Steep walk to top of town is rewarded by magnificent views.

From the beach you take the public bus PF or PQ and you go until the end of the route, Piazza Matteotti. Centro Storica is a few minutes on walk by there. The ticket costs 1.30 euro.
