We visited Lake Orta after asking for a recommendation of our B&B host and we weren't disappointed. Having never visited this area, we were pleasantly surprised. This lake is a little smaller then the more famous Italian Lakes but it has a lot of charm...More

I want to go here again! Smaller than the other lakes but really beautiful! Nice town, too. Don't miss a trip to the island!

This hidden gem of the Lake District is absolutely charming. The village of Orta is accessed from the main car park via a tram that drops passengers on the side of the mountain. You simply walk down the narrow streets; take a left at San...More

We were just here for a day trip and such a peaceful place. We wandered the streets of San Giulio de Orta, bought some porcini, had a coffee by the lake. We had taken the little tourist train down from the car park, and walked...More

Everyone seems to rush to Lakes Garda, Maggiore, and Como, and never see this little gem. It is serene and with some exceptions, avoids the bustle of the other lakes. Perhaps because it's smaller with fewer resorts. But if you are in the lake district,...More

A very pretty and interesting lake with the lovely Isla and the town of Orta the highlights, easily traversed using the Lake ferry service which serves all the main points of interest. Orta is a very pretty little town with plenty of restaurants at reasonable...More

I've been to Italy many times and have yet to find a region I don't like. Lake Orta is special. There isn't a great deal to do so 4 days is enough, but you'll have a fantastic 4 days. Peaceful, wonderful scenery as you catch...More

This is a scenic nature lake. There are pathways along the road and lake where you can stroll into the town. Numerous restaurants and shops to amble through. So picturesque and the locals are very welcoming. Wonderful area. Numerous churches with lovely frescoes.

There is a beach on the way towards Garda. I just passed by so I know not how it is. Probably there are more small beaches. The lake is quite long.
