About
La Corte dei gonzaga embodied by the artist Irma Guidorossi is specialised in the creation of Art Scratch Coated and hand-painted Ceramics in Renaissance style typical of the area between the provinces that border the rivers Po, Adige and Oglio , in Mantua. Mantua, is a beautiful historic city situated in the south of Lombardy, it is located in particularly beautiful Po Valley. In fact it is surrounded by rivers and streams that make it look like an island. Aldous Huxley described Mantua as the most romantic city in the world, and indeed the city offers to the visitor a unique romantic atmosphere with its interlinking squares, arcades and medieval monuments, and meandering river, the Mincio, with its moodily romantic lakes. This beautiful city was one of the greatest Renaissance Courts in Europe and home of the wealthy Gonzaga family, who rose from peasant origins to conquer the city in 1328 and ruled benevolently until 1707. The Gonzaga protected art and culture and hosted several important artists like Leone Battista Alberti, Andrea Mantegna, Giulio Romano, Donatello, Luca Fancelli and Nicolo Sebregondi. Though many of the masterworks have been dispersed, the cultural value of Mantua is nonetheless outstanding. The technique we use is developed from the study and following reproduction of antique objects, the use of colours, according to the typical rules of this type of ceramics. This particular technique, the colours used and the variety of subjects that characterize it, allow us to adapt well to the targets and wishes of our customers. The Art Scratch Coated Mantua Ceramics is made by craftsmen and not artists, so it's very crude and simple in manufacturing, use of colours and designs, very often of domestic use helping to revive and give a decorative touch of colour to dark and dull environments. Our store manufactures: - Gifts - Gift of representation for companies that want to pay homage to its customers - Favours and bonbonniere with its packaging - Customised objects (emblems, logos, landscapes, etc.) for events, meetings, and cultural events. - Sets for decorating different environments All of our creatons are accompanied with a Certificate of Quality and Origin, that guarantees it authenticity and unique character.

This is hidden down the back of the alleyway behind the round church.
Very friendly owner who sits at the back of her shop painting. She is very friendly and speaks a little English. I have bought a few small things in her shop and I admire her bigger pieces. She is making me an original pottery door sign (commissioned). It's worth just taking a little tour around to see the pottery and if you like you can buy. She makes these lovely pottery bells that look like houses and remind me of the little house like chimney pots they have on their houses here.
