This, for us, was the best thing in Mantova. You have to be accompanied by a tour guide but it is only €7 each and the rooms, especially the zodiac room, are breathtaking. The tours are in Italian only but our lovely guide spoke good...More

This palazzo was on the Matua card, fully decorated, was left to the city by the last owner. We could only look around the palazzo on the timed organised tour, which was in Italian, we were given a small piece of literature in English but...More

After spending the morning at the Ducal Palace, then finding the Archaeological Museum closed until the afternoon, we walked 1 km west to this museum. The mansion is still furnished as it was when the last countess died in 1973 at 103, childless and willed...More

The Palazzo d'Arco is a late eighteenth century neo-classical mansion. It is vast and gives a horribly real insight into the gulf between the classes of Italian society in the period. The almost endless enfilade of rooms is very interesting and they contain some very...More

After visiting places which although beautiful were somewhat bare of furnishings, etc. it was nice to go around this palace and see their possessions ranging from 15th to 20th century stuff. I particularly enjoyed seeing the newly opened bedroom of the last countess who died...More

18th Century palace now open as a museum with the rooms in their original decorative schemes housing the collection accumulated in the house by the D'Arco family up to the 19th Century. Though this is worth seeing from a social history perspective alone, and also...More

If you can speak Italian, I would recommend the guided tour - around an hour in length and a guide who clearly knows a lot about and cares a great deal for the palace. For those unable to speak Italian, the guide book is adequate,...More

I am sure the Palazzo d'Arco does not deserve one star, but I am not sure how else to warn Trip Advisor users not to go to Mantua in order to visit the Palazzo d'Arco. It recently closed for restoration work and the notice does...More

Thanks to a local man who advised me to visit the Palace I went there and was really charmed by its interior. It is a grand palace, with the atmosphere and the furniture and everything around you as it was lived in centuries ago.
