Mantova is beautiful - well worth visiting. But don’t go to Caffe Miro. We were attracted to this restaurant by its position on the corner of a square. But our food was not particularly good quality or value. Worst of all the bill was much more than we expected because they said they charged extra for each addition to the pizza topping, although there was nothing on the menu about that. Turned out to be an expensive lunch. Ripped off. And the toilets....well, just one toilet, a disgusting, stinking hole in the ground.

Lovely view of the Basilica Saint Andrea in Mantova - and given crisps, nuts, and cubed ham with our two beers. These were served in lovely clean glass - (sorry but dirty glasses is a bug bear of mine). The atmosphere was lovely - and the bar / Caffe seemed popular with tourists and locals alike.
However - i wish we hadn't ordered more beers, because the loo's were the older type, squat down, hole in the ground type. They smelt really really bad, although the staff had just been round and mopped the floor and sprayed air freshener. Someone needs to inform the Caffe Miro that seated toilets are now available. However maybe the idea is save them as a new tourist attraction.

Good spot to meet up if yoru party wanders around, good for coffees and refreshing drinks, Aperol Spritz's went down well and cool beers while you sit and watch the many locals on bicycles and chatting. Good to unwind, right across from Basilica.

We found this cafe by chance during a rain shower on our way back to the station. What luck, as they served excellent coffee . Really friendly guy, too.

During the time that we stayed for a visit in Mantua, we visited here in the morning often for coffee and a roll. We also stopped by sometimes for a spritz or a cocktail around 6 pm. Wonderful place to watch the passegiata!

Visited today with family. Noticed that Italians ordering alcoholic drinks were supplied with chips and nuts - as is common in every bar in Italy - we were given none. On paying the €44 bill I asked why we had not been given any - 'that depends' was the reply 'depends on what?' I asked. 'That depends' was the reply once again. The crisps and nuts were not a big issue for me but the failure to explain the omission spoke volumes. Not a place I will be spending any money again.

We arrived on a chilly day and fancied a coffee, we were lucky to choose this place as we were surprised by the lovely foods on offer. They had a large range of beer and wine plus excellent coffe. I had a lemon tart which I can honestly say I could travel from Ireland to eat again, truly excellent. Available was olive bread which I did not have but would gladly eat now I could! Very nice place with good service and English speaking. Highly recommend it.

We went there for an Aperol Spritz and thought about ordering something small for lunch.
The Spritz was already accompanied by a plate including 8 small slices of bread and as many slices of Mortadella luncheon meat.
They also serve small ham, meat and vhease platters, salads etc.
Service was friendly and correct.
