It’s been 12 years since I rode this, but it still has the same charm and thrill. Only a few euros, and you get to see a spectacular view of Lake Como. Have never seen a long line or wait. It’s very efficient and a...More

Spectacular is the only word for this excursion, unbelievably steep and the views and architecture are amazing considering the steep terrain.

Fantastic experience. Once at the top there is a long hard walk to the lighthouse. A must do for the view and a lovely bar for a cold drink. You need to be fit to do the walk - done once but wouldn't do it...More

This activity is not for everyone... The funicular was very, very crowded in July with no air circulation. Lines are long to get on as well. Its very steep to the top and not for people who fear heights. Brunate however is very nice! A...More

When it’s crowded, don’t expect incredible views along the way because the passenger car is packed with people and some standing. There are also lots of trees and some buildings blocking the view but every once in a while you can get a glimpse that...More

Had a wonderful 10 days in Como where we attended a friends wedding. We used the funicular railway one evening to have a meal with a view at a restaurant in Brunate, just a short walk from the railway summit. It was a treat to...More

We took a ride on the Funicular (cable car type system that takes you to the top of a mountain). This is like a ski gondola before there were gondolas. The trip takes you to the small village of Brunate. From here you will have...More

We took the fonicolare after a long time waiting in line in a hot July sun. The small brunate city is quite cozy, worth a short trip. However the attraction points, like the lighthouse are not easily accessible by foot. We got to the lighthouse...More

I hiked up from Como but with 30C it would have been better to use the funicular not only down but also up. Even the short way from the station to the lighthouse was sweetening in the weather. When light rain started it felt like...More

Definitely worth it for the view of the lake. Excellent value for money. Didn’t walk to the lighthouse as seemed steep but could see it well anyway. Had a reasonably priced mocktail in a bar with terrace about 10 mins walk from funicular. Great part...More

Was there 2 weeks ago. My mother was on wheel chair, I had no issues getting her around. At the top, still able to push her around.

You can probably seat about 6 per carriage (maybe slightly less in front and rear carriages) and there are about 4 carriages. There is also standing room.

You can also go by ship/boat. There is a stop a few yards from the hotel, it would take 5-10 minutes and it stops near the departure of the funicolare.
