Not a place to stay for days, but very much worth staying a couple of hours and really inhale the beautiful combination of sea, colorful houses and a typical Italian atmoshere. In the hot summer a great place to escape the heat.

I could also recommend scanning through Airbnb. I've stayed in an apartment only 400m away from Bocadasee and it was fairly cheap.

Take the train to Genova, there re many hotel in this town, walking to Boccadasse is 45mins or can take a local tram it's 15mins.
